Beware the Experiment by Wevel

[raw]
made by Wevel for LD33 (COMPO)
Windows 10 smart-screen might not want you to open it, just click "Show more" and then "Run anyway".

When the local school told the police that one of their science experiments had gone wrong, this wasn't what they had expected.Having been released from the local school science fair, punch buildings to get points and grow, punch and eat people to get health. But beware of the blue police who are trying to tame you, the painful way. The green local residence make easy pickings but you can pickup and throw rubble to help your goals (Getting as higher score as possible without dying).

Hints:
-Have the music volume low (it isn't that good)
-Have the FX volume high (they sound amazing and I had fun recording them)
-Only kill people when you are low on health as there are limited amounts of them
-As you get points you get bigger and do more damage

This game has controller support, tested with and Xbox controller, brackets contain equivalent controller inputs.

How to play:
WASD (Left stick) = Move
Left click (LB) = Punch
Right click (RB) = Grab and throw
Escape (Start) = Pause

Sorry for people on some platforms, it turns out that controller axis are mapped differently so having a controller plugged in will not work.

Made Using:
-Unity 5
-Visual Studios 2012
-Photoshop
-Blender
-Audacity
-Audiotool

I have no way to test the mac and Linux version, but I added them just in case they work.

Thank you for playing my game, any comments (good and bad) are welcome as I am planning on releasing this game in the near future. This will add some features I had wanted to put in like throwing people and a jump-smash.

I try to play the games of people who comment.

Hey! Wanted to rate your game because you rated mine :)

"the error message got me the first time as well(I think its meant to be there)" What message was that?

You got points even though I couldnt play your game. From the screenshots it's clear that this product takes lot of effort to create.

Surprisingly fun game, had a lot of fun figuring out what to do. I really hoped you could pick up the people and throw them through doors and stuff, or at other people.

Man, there's all this violence going on, but the happy-clappy tunes are just playing away.

quite fun, I am impressed by the destruction mechanics, it gets repetitive after a while

Destroying the houses was quite fun. Atleast more than punching the people who do nothing sadly :/

Yeah with this in mind, it would be cool to have a goal in this game instead just hitting like a jerk. Graphics were ok and I really really liked the Soundeffects since I made them like that too!
Keep up the work!

When you've grown a bit it becomes quite hard to actually hit something while you'd expect the opposite.

Still breaking stuff is always fun and I like that the rubble stays around to visualize your progress.

The game looks so good but won't run in Linux. Also... rar file?

I made one hell of a mess! It was really satisfying to see the buildings blow up! I didn't feel like I was ever in danger, though.

Destroying building and smashing people with the debris felt very satisfying. The art looks quite good too but I felt the game was a bit too easy.

That was an incredibly fun experience. The second I discovered I could destroy houses and throw the debris at people I was sold.

The first impressions:
1) OH F*** WHAT IS IT? oh.. it's just a pistol, oooo
2) OH F*** I DESTRUCT THE HOME? oh, just with my hands
anyway, this game give you a little fun, is what more important?) Good job!

Hooray for destruction!

The blue guys didn't seem to do anything though unfortunately :(

Would've been nice to know exactly what kind of monster I was though. I just felt like some guy on a rampage.

I didn't think much of this one... until I figured out I could destroy buildings. Pretty repetitive, but cool concepts. Getting bigger was fun, although people got too far down to properly punch very quickly.

Interesting take on the theme and enjoyable amounts of destruction - would like to see a timer or something else to give some sense of urgency to destroying or escaping :)

Funny destruction game... It lacks a bit of challenge but the idea of growing up with the score is a good thing. I felt like right click attack did not work well all times. A bit more of gameplay could be appreciated but destroying homes is always fun.

Nice concept, I liked the building destruction and the amount of blood that exploded from guys as you killed them. Didn't seem like the guys holding guns did much, but that's okay. Struggled to hit people once I got to a certain size - but that's okay too, there are lots of buildings! Would be nice to see some sort of timer or endgame - but overall impressive for a solo 48 hour entry.. nice one!

It has potential but it either needs to be harder or have a time limit as it becomes a tad repetitive after a while. I enjoyed the buildings crumbling.

Simple, fun game! I included it in part 18 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/U5AMORGkiRk

Funny game, the controls didn't work well for me but that might just be a problem with my Keyboard/Mouse. Somehow it got more and more difficult to destroy houses ...
