Duskwalker by tayl1r

[raw]
made by tayl1r for LD33 (COMPO)
You have been cursed! Each night you turn into a monster and are shot on sight by police. The only way to lift the curse is to find the cultists that did this to you hiding in the general population, stalk them through the day and kill them at night.

I really like how you did some of the effects! The shadow of your guy when its night time is so neat

Fun to play and beautiful, what can you expect more, maybe slightly better sound effects.

Cool! I would like to control camera vertically too, but otherwise nice game.

I did it, I murdered all the cultists. That'll show 'em.

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

Ah, sorry DesignerNap. Cultists make the big cross appear on the HUD when they're close. It's a nice nod to its source material, but not helpfully highlighted in game!

The game is enjoyable and the city looks good. Though, I have some pretty big slow downs when killing somebody, it's actually freezing for up to a second (playing the web version on firefox for mac).

Loved the art. It immediately made me think of strife (1996).

I like the concept, but it becomes a little dull to have to wait until nightfall when you're tailing a cultist, especially because you're unlikely to find multiples during each cycle. Eight is probably a bit too many. Took me a while to figure out how to identify them, too.
Moving around as a monster felt pretty satisfying though, especially that pounce.

Graphics were really great, nice job. The camera could have been a little better.

I really enjoyed the monster's pounce and all of the little effects through the game. It seemed like it was pretty easy for me to just run around as a monster and murder all of the cultists in 2-3 nights while dodging the police bullets. It was a fun murder spree though!

Great game, liked the cops and the monster graphics.
The aim is hard to get right, a crosshair or some indicator of where you aim would be useful

Am I wrong, or is there no consequence to just killing anyone? (I lost a few bystanders while hunting).

Killing bystanders will create more police the next day. The idea was at the end you'd also get a score based on how many innocents died... but I didn't have time for that.

Good to know - from a design perspective, makes a lot of sense to add some form of downside to murdering everyone in sight, even if doing that actually fits the theme better :p

I felt immersed in the world, nice to explore. Didn't know what really to do until the night came but it was nice, well done :)

I like this entry a lot. The gameplay is solid, the fx sounds and the 3d graphics are gorgeus. Good job!
