Monster Quest by lambomang

[raw]
made by lambomang for LD33 (JAM)
A competitive co-op adventure RPG. Prepare to go on the weirdest adventure of your lifetime.
Set out with your crew of monsters and go on randomly generated stories guarantee to keep you on your toes and always at least slightly weirded out.

Controls:
Game will tell you.
Combat: press Enter/(A) to attack.

Tested on 1 and 2 player modes. Unsure if 3 and 4 player modes work or not. Probably terribly broken.
Kind of fun on 1 player mode, not well balanced though. Best played in 2 player mode. Hope you get a laugh out of it :)

Didn't end up making it as complete as I would've hoped, but the bones of the random situation generator are there.

It feels a little off the theme, other than that it's a very fun game.

The graphics are simple but for a text game they do their job and do it well enough. Overall it's a decent game for a few minutes, but after that time the random situation generator gets somewhat old. The writing of the situations and responses is great if often completely nonsensical.

I hope you flesh out the generator like you mentioned and release a new version in the future. It has some potential as a party game with many friends playing together, but I didn't have a chance to do that.

Nice Game, the battles are a bit too hard.

Could have played this game for hours. Plenty of references in the situation generator to keep me happy. The battles seem a bit hard though.

I missed the point you were trying to make with the Theme, until I read the description. Okay, I play a monster! Anyway, mission accomplished I think : "Hope you get a laugh out of it :)" => I did.
It's a shame you didn't have a bit more time to balance the 1 player mode, I mostly died after 2 or 3 choice, because I was too weak. Also if you could manage to create a combat system as WTF as the dialogs, it would be epic ^^

It has a perfect atmosphere and effects for a text-game. It is a bit hard, but the situations and the coop, are awesome. Nice entry :-)
