Dev Thoughts

Decided to just go solo for this LD, went with something easy like a platformer, and wanted to explore a teleporting mechanic I had in my head... Not sure how related to the theme this ended up being.

Dev Changelog

  • Fixed bug with respawning the upgrade item.
  • Fixed bug where player would respawn at checkpoint after reset.

Very cool mechanics and the gameplay felt really good. The CRT effect is a nice touch!

My first run took a little under 7 minutes to finish and I got it down to 55 seconds after a few tries.

@kaba thanks for playing! You've got the very first high score :)

I did it! Some of the rooms were quite a challenge. I like the movement in this one, it just feels nice to walljump around.

If I had to to one push up for every fail, damn, I would be the most strong person in the universe. This game is awesome in every aspect

Ugh, pretty unusual controls for jumping. It was difficult for me, but I finished in 8 minutes. Interesting that at first look, the obstacles seem like a reaction test, though it's more like even puzzles I guess. It's a cool effect. I liked it :)

Funny game, well polished movement. Also the dynamic change of scale is very nice. Teleporter is cool and the Leveldesign is smart, but the player needs to learn the machanics and therfore the first level is very early way to hard.
But overall a great piece od work!

Good game! The teleporting mechanic leads to some nice puzzles, and the CRT look is very nice

i wish there were other controls, z and x are way too close. also space bar is usually the defacto jump in alot of games.

I died, and died, and died

... but eventually I made it to the end, definitely worth it!

Very good controls - although for some reason I kept mixing up both action keys.
If I had to change one thing, I would remove the small delay between the moment you press the teleport key, and the moment the character actually teleports. This delay added what felt like artificial difficulty to some puzzles.

I'm not too much of a fan of the CRT shader ; however the sounds were pretty crisp and convincing!

Overall, nice job!

the teleport mechanics are amazing, took note of it. there wasn't enough background music and checkpoints to make it completely chill, but the game is still very cool, respect

Really fun once I understood the mechanics! some pointers towards how the interactions work could really flesh it out!

The teleport was a really neat mechanic and loved how you use it to expand on the movement and controls. Figuring out the different things you could do with it was its own little puzzle and you absolutely made the most out of it. Great work!!

Great mechanics, graphics and the controlling is incredibly smooth. Pretty difficult though, I still need more practice.

Player animations look super smooth, good job on that. All the art looks good actually. Gameplay is fun, I just don't really see the relation to the theme.

Really satisfying to move around, walljump, and figure out those little puzzle rooms. CRT effect adds a nice retro vibe,

Great game with clean execution — everything’s readable, and it’s pretty hard to get confused.
The core mechanic and idea are really solid!

I had a good time! I like the presentation a lot, and the mechanic was neat. I also appreciate that the difficulty was quite a bit lower than I initially thought. It felt like the screen transitions had a bunch of buggy behavious when throwing the teleport past a room boundary, and I wish the checkpoints had been telegraphed better, but overall it was a fun short challenge!

This game was brutal and I love it. It wasn't completely clear that you could stick the star to the walls at first, but once I figured that out it went really, really well. I had a lot of fun playing through it, although I had nowhere near the high score. Would love to play more levels!

Smooth, looks great, feels great and is just superb. Really loved playing it, although it took me a while to get to the end. I'd like some sort of a leaderboard and maybe some additional levels as my competetive itch is driving me here haha.

Hi played on stream here's the timestamped vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2428803190?t=0h18m31s

I really enjoyed this one, especially now as I reflect on it. I really enjoyed the central mechanic had a lot of fun using it. My only critique would the controls were a bit unintuitive and I kept mixing up jump and teleport. Other than that I really enjoyed my time with this one. Loved the graphics!

Yes I do wanna play more animal well please! Pretty fun, tho I was hopping to find some sequence breaking skips like in animal well, but it felt pretty linear, idk maybe I'm just too stoopid to find them. :)

Very nice entry here. The controls were a bit strange to get used to but once I got it I had a great time and would gladly play many more levels of this. I could see new and difficult mechanics like attaching your teleport to moving platforms or maybe some sort of zero-g zone, I don't know just throwing out ideas. The movement felt very slick. My only minor complaint was that I wasn't playing in full screen at first and for some reason that cut off the sides of the game a bit and I couldn't see the side walls in the final hurdle room. Other than that great job!

A fun game that reminds me of VVVVVV. The controls are a bit inconvenient for me personally, because my keyboard doesn't have arrow keys xD. There are also some weird places where you have to throw a star while on one screen into another screen, hoping that it will hit the right spot. But otherwise I liked everything, it was interesting to complete the game, although I'm very far from the record, my PB is 7 minutes :)

This platformer is a bit too hard for me — for example, when you're hanging on a wall,
you have to throw the teleport and somehow not die after the jump

i'm a vvvvvvv lover too, and your gameplay idea is cool and Above all, the production is great, the character responds really well and the progression is very pleasant... well done for the controls

Just like others mention I thought of vvvvvvv when I played the game, and that's a great compliment. This is such a fantastic entry, it's short with super tight controls and with speed run potential. It does not take a lot of playing to feel that you spent a lot of time tuning everything to be just right. Watching @farzher speed-run video is a testament to how well you made the controls and level design.

Personally I am a big fan of the CRT shader, that together with the color pallet and sound gives the game a fantastic retro feel. I'm very impressed at how polished and coherent you managed to make everything, specially in a compo. Like I would struggle so much with the visuals and audio.

If this is not an automatic 5 :star: overall in compo, then I don't know what is.

One of my favorite games this jam :trophy:
