Is it using some sort of physics and then figuring out which side of the die landed up? Or is the random number determined ahead of time, and the animation is played to match it? Either way, that's an interesting technical problem to solve. The dice are completely physics based! each side of the dice has a collider so that when the die is in a resting spot, it checks which collider intersects with the table and then reports back the side it rolled on. It's a little rough and had I had more time I would've used math to determine which side is up instead because it would be more reliable than this current system.
