Work-Life Balance by sarellano
A game about finding the balance between a soul-crushing job, and working on your game dev dream. Sounds easy at first glance, but dreams don't feed you, or your baby. Will you fall into the depths of debt? And if so, how well can you sleep with it?

He also need to think about how he use his money, it's a little frustrating how he don't use it wisely when he want to make a game. (I don't need a f****** boat that cost $100 when I'm working my ass to make enough money)
Fun little game nonetheless, the music wasn't boring.
I would maybe add a "sanity" bar ? Cause I didn't work at all on my dreams to get the $300 and it feel kinda wrong.
Maybe adding a day's counter would be good too ? Like, to have a scoring part, and knowing if we did better when we restart the game.
Please continue making game, it was really pleasant to play.
Otherwise, I made it! Though I wonder whether I didn't run through it way too quickly, because I haven't encountered any pizza ovens, boats or god forbid, a kid.

Otherwise pleasant color palette, quite simple to understand, even though took me couple of seconds to realise what the game progress bar means. All in all, good job!
Now I only have to find out how to fix the IRL bug when you sleep and the exhaustion meter doesn't go down.
Music is quite nice too (but also quite loud, got jumpscared by the first popup), a solid entry overall!
It would be cool if there were more actions the player can take!
Jokes aside, pretty cool entry, I love the interpretation of the theme. The random events were wacky hahaha, at the end I probably had like 7 pizza ovens? I was like "my dude, why are you wasting so much money on that lol"
When I had a kid, I thought it'd be over, but I got a promotion right after and pushed through.
Good job!
@hubol yeah, I ended up making a game that mirrors my life :'(. Hopefully one day we can all drop the company jobs and just be happy making games XD. And yeah, I was planning on having some other features but I didn't get enough time :( Glad you liked it though!
@jeffez Yeah, I struggled a lot with balancing it. At first it was really hard and everyone got the boat (which I love, it is just too funny to remove), but I couldn't find time to polish it in such a way that drops challenges other than in a random way :(
I think this game needed more events and texts in general, like description of the game you're publishing. It became too repetitive at some point. Also and it's a tip I got for my game - the volume is way too loud - the best thing is to send the game to other people and they notice it right away
Still, probably the best writing I seen so far in the ludum jam, just wish there was more
The writing has a really good consistent tone and the music is great! It took me a little while to realise the time reset at 24 (in hindsight it's obvious it's hours but this wasn't obvious to me at the start), it would have been a nice visual cue if the sky outside the window changed with the time.
My two first playthoughs started with buying the boat, so I found the game quite hard.
On my third try, I understood that it was random, and that I'm just an unlucky guy ahah.
The only suggestion that I could give may be to don't use pixel art for text, such as the buttons ones. It's kinda clear as there is only 3 of them but it's really hard to read them at first as it's so small, whereas the rest of the text looks nice and is perfectly readable.
In any case, very cute and funny game ! Good job(aha) !
