Very fun game. I really enjoyed the audio specifically, probably some of my favorite in the jam thus far. That being said, the main song stops looping at around 10000 points, and the commentators seem to run out of things to say around then too. I also would have liked a little more difficulty ramp. The decent speed is just right for midgame, but it's too slow for late game and just a tad fast for early game. Otherwise, I liked just about everything else.

@zettasimp Whoops. I forgot to tick a box to make the music loop; now it does! :D

As for the difficulty, I find people are very different when it comes to skill level and I didn't have the time to ramp it over time, so I made it manageable for most ;)

Overall a very good start to somethign that could be truly special. The voice-acting is very well done and the concept and visuals match the theme of the game (and the jam) very well.

Some observations:
- The voice acting is extremely well done.
- The music and style of the game is perfectly matched, very good stylistic choices made.
- The visuals of the talking speed are sometimes not synced with the audio.
- Adding WASD controls on top of arrow keys would be a addition.
- A feature for speeding up your falling speed by holding down (and the inverse for holding up) would likely add to the gameplay.
- Indicators for the sides before you get to the land segment would likely be a good addition.
- Moving the land to be exactly when the voice lines end would likely be a good idea to speed-up people replaying the game.
- Some strange background noise during the game over screen.

Overall, a very good submission for the jam, very nice work!

Loved the music & voice acting 😂😂 those two commentators are unstoppable

I got around 3000 for my first run, and then a streak of bad runs but i'm gonna hunt this to get more 😡😡

Really funny concept and well executed !

I love this game, from the anticipation at the intro scene to the gameplay itself :D I wasn't mentally prepared for the first time I splat on the surface of the terrain, especially combined with the music hahah. As far as feedback goes, I would've loved to see the player character angle into the direction of their flight, that would've added a lot to the feeling of going fast.

Overall great work, and my compliments on getting such a polished result!

Very fun! I liked the quacking face on the other commentator. The gameplay itself was quite simplistic, but the presentation elevated it a lot. The song's great!

Amazing presentation and personality! The voice actors did a great job injecting character with some solid line reads! Only minor note would be that the hazard patterns become somewhat repetitive and easy to predict once you make it a certain distance, but obviously only having three days this was still a lot of variety on display lol. Great job on this entry!

@breadley so glad you enjoyed it! I agree that the voice actors are great at what they do 🤓 as for variations of layouts, the issue was largely that I wasted a day trying to automate something I should have done manually from the start 🥲 lesson learned!

Amazing characters! The voice acting is exceptional (and hilarious) and the soundtrack is super fitting. The TV filter gives it an extra layer of polish. I think I broke into a collider at some point and ended up inside the ground.

Maybe some sort of change in the background or different obstacles / speed as you go deeper would make the sense of progression stronger.

Awesome submission overall! Great to see another infinite dodge dropper here! :D

@ssiannas Level variation and speed increases (as well as powerups) were planned but I wasted an entire day so it was effectively a 48 hour jam, in terms of code. Whoops. Glad you liked what we managed to include ;)

@caffeinetrip It will get more ratings once I start rating more ;) I am just not able to do that many ratings before the weekend.

@langotriel no worries it's still super neat! We also dropped the power-ups because we all had to go to work for the third day of the jam. I think it's a very common thing for power-ups to never make it in haha

This game is an ultimate proof to how much JUICING the game can add to the very simple idea: the fact that you added voice acting (that changes with each playthrough!), the screen effect and music being synced with the moment we enter the cave was all too awesome to pass on extra rounds. My only feedback below!
- Because of little color difference in between the rock and the ground, it was hard to notice at first where the entry to the cave is and which "hole" I should hit
- The music and the general vibe is super 80s TV, and the ground color doesn't fit super well with this - gives off more of a Hunger Games vibe - so maybe with more colors and neon splashes it would work together better, but Hunger Games is also cool :D

Nice fun game. I first try wasd, and this was a mistake xD. Very good idea with sports comentors, it get right idea and atmosphere. I think, i should, maybe, slow falling speed, but add S button to raise it shortly and some bonuses for this, like ability to slow falling on W in complex moments.

The starting screen and voiceover are just something else — absolutely brilliant. If I could give a 20/10 for the audio category, I totally would. The news report format and the fact that the characters appear on screen? Super cool touch. Visually, the game looks great overall too. My only real note on the gameplay is the lack of progression — it feels like you’re not really accelerating, even though it seems like you should be. That said, I *do* appreciate how the game starts in an empty space — it gives you just enough time to adjust to the default speed. And that speed? Not too slow, not too fast. It’s spot-on.

I think the voice acting is a great addition to the game, I was able to get 20536 points in a legitimate manner.

I was also able to get this many points by bashing my head into the left wall and going out of bounds but I don't think it should be counted...

The premise is absolutely hilarious - they should make this a real sport.
Really dig the gameplay and the audio, a fantastic entry overall!
The highscore list on the submission page here is also a really fun idea, great work.

This was a very fun take on the theme, I really liked the humour of how absurd it is. Kind of squid game-esque; but worse since there is literally no upside and you will become a pancake at the end haha.

The graphics are cohesive and nice and where the game really shines is the witty commentary and nice voice acting. I really appreciated that the intro was different when you restarted, that's such a nice touch.

Overall a fantastic entry, as always :trophy:

PS: I like score attack games so naturally I had to make it into the top 10! :smile:

Love the voice acting, the music is great, how you timed it to have the "drop" right when you get to the caves. Lots of great humor, and of course the theme is spot on. Very hard for me lol

This one is a lot of fun. The gameplay is both self explanatory and super addictive and the announcers are a super creative touch. Love how the music stops when my character breaks every bone in his body, really makes you FEEL the impact. That said the music is incredible, and overall this is one of my favorites from this jam.

I loved it! A simple idea with a lot of personality and exploration of the core loop. The voice acting as many as mentioned is amazing and adds so much to the mood.

I can never back down from a good arcade game! I really enjoyed playing your game, great job :D You especially never disappoint with the audio - the voiceacting and music kills it like always. The music also getting more hectic was a nice touch!

I enjoy how the old school screen effect really sells the arcade feeling. I also think the comment section high score is clever!

oooo fun. Super intuitive gameplay, the premise is fun, and the lines/voice acting is the cherry on top. The music is great, too, and I appreciate how it's timed with the underground section starting and the light stick turning on. Nicely done!

Saw it on stream, days later I suddenly couldn't get the music out of my head, so I finally found it and played it myself. It's awesome, and for me personally, 50% of it is due to soundtrack. It fits perfectly, develops so well and just kept me going, I love it. Can you post it somewhere maybe? :point_right::point_left:

There's more goodness obviously. Controls felt good, I liked how you can slide on angled obstacles, and voice acting is a cherry on top.

Saw others mention the lack of progression, and I guess that's true, but I found my limited focus to be the progression :smile: Although it could use some more variety, in terms of color, or different obstacles.

Anyway, gimme that first spot

@hexstart that is crazy. How on earth did you manage to lock in for so long? And yeah we ran out of time and an artist never showed up variety is less than we wanted, the willpower to keep going is the challenge ;) many don’t get far enough to feel that burn 🔥
