Close your eyes by Mateo Avventuriero

[raw]
made by Mateo Avventuriero for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

DESCRIPTION
Tidy the house before your parents come home and avoid the monsters along the way by covering your eyes.

You must complete all the tasks before the timer runs out. You must avoid looking at the enemies who appear and disappear randomly around the level, if you look at them for too long you lose.

KNOWN BUG: if you lose, it's impossible to restart the level, the button doesn't work :/

CONTROLS - Move with Z/Q/S/D - Grab an item with E - Cover your eyes with Space

That laugh... I really like the graphics and the atmosphere of the game. Just lacking maybe some feed back before dying to try to escape. Well played and very nice game.

крутая игра, жаль что я боюсь всех игр которые похожи на хоррор

It's a very interesting idea and I think it could make a great horror movie. And so it was exciting to play and quite atmospheric)

I love the art style, it obscures things just enough to promote you learning the layout over multiple attempts. Although to that end, an option to reset on a gameover would be a good QoL.

As an aside, the parents must be quite trusting to leave handling the chicken dinner to their (presumably) young child.

You have designed a great website for itch! I like it!

About the game. It is a great idea with "close your eyes", like in "Before Your Eyes", do you know it?))

But... I didn't understand what shall I do to escape the monster, even eith closed eyes(( They don't leave for a very long time, and it is a little boring, because youare justsitting with the pressed space bar.

It was fun, and I really like the mood and art design, but I gave up after few tries, it seems I'm not good enough to finish the game and having to hard restart instead of just click on a restart button is a little boring.
However, I will maybe give it another try later, as I like the game, and I think I did not yet understood well how the monsters "works" (sometimes I had the feeling that they stays even when I'm hiding for long, but other times I could move again without being caught just seconds after…).
Good job anyways!

Wouahou!

Wow! The gameplay is atypical. I'm a scaredy-cat, so I admit that it's not necessarily for my nerves ahah (it works very well on me, the black and white and Macleod's music are perfect for generating the eerie atmosphere). Putting the items to be retrieved in red is very useful, as they're easy to spot in the background.
A few comments to help you improve the whole:
- I had trouble spotting/reading the objectives (in white, they disappear with some elements of the scenery).
- I had trouble identifying what was what, in the objects to be collected (and therefore where to put them).
- There was an object on the ground (a toy car? or cubes?) that I never managed to pick up.
- I'm not sure I always spotted what triggered the game over, because sometimes I could wait a very long time to cover my eyes after encountering a monster, and other times not at all.

In short, congratulations on a game that's off the beaten track! I hope you'll have the opportunity to improve it.

The scariest thing in the game is the laughter at this moment 😅.

Really love the art. This is terrific. Very similar black and white spooky theme as our submission! I'm glad someone else went in that direction

I really like how the little guys look, but I also can't look at them without losing which feels a bit counter intuitive
