Survival of the Shadowlings by Jhonny111

[raw]
made by Jhonny111 for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

You are a great Shadow Overlord, or at least you once were.

Nowadays you are hiding with your few remaining tiny shadowlings in an abandoned warehouse.

Sadly the Warehouse began to crumble lately and more and more sunlight gets in. You need to find a new home.

You are fairly weakened so you can only give your Shadowlings litte powerups to help them survive.

Can you keep your people alive?

Did not understand controls, tried to press to position where arrows & sign should be placed, drag them as well. How should place items on levels?

Great puzzle game! While some levels were trivial, the last few were really fun to figure out. Still can't figure out how to get 3 stars on the final level.

@custodi Hi. Thanks for telling. I updated the page a little. You click on a tool and then on a little shadowling to give it to him. Feel free to try again if you like.

i had a hard time with the controls for 2 minutes but there i figured it out and it was great
difficulty curve is correct but you need to have good timing for completing the level 3 stars :)

Ha, tricked by the umbrella at the start - I couldn't figure out level 1 because I thought the umbrella was to stop lemmings falling to their deaths, not stop deadly laser beams! I love the music, but felt it was a little too epic for the game. But still, good atmosphere and great fun. If you work on this post-comp I'd definitely request a >> fast-forward option to speed up the waiting bits after you've set them all up!

Good Game! There are some small problems in the game. And if the game get rid of those problems, it can be a wonderful game.
1 There should be more ingame tutorial. I stuck at how to play the game until I go back and see the website.
2 Player can't pause the game to watch the map or make some precise control. If I can pause the game I think it will be great!
3 The game speed it too slow when I try my idea, I will wait for quite a long time. If add pause function, the speed of the game can be faster.

Always love a good puzzle game! The ones where you use the same level but approach them differently based on the tools you have are wonderfully designed. I only wish there was a speed up button and maybe a highlight when you hover over a shadowling to make sure you apply the tool to the right one.![shadowlings.png](///raw/486/z/6854d.png)

Great game! I love it. It reminds me of playing Lemmings as a kid. ![shadowlings.jpg](///raw/833/53/z/689ad.jpg)

This a nice lemming-remake, enjoyed the puzzles. Will be honest I didn't love the graphical style.

Fun and well thought puzzle game! Love that some levels introduce a new mechanic, so it gets more interesting and fun to resolve the puzzles! Great job!

Very neat, I love the idea a lot! Works really well as a chill puzzle game. Maybe some extra polish / QoL features would be nice, some suggestions: highlight the creature when the cursor hovers on top of it, just to let you know that it's interactable, add some more sound effects, add a simple explanation of what items do when hovering your cursor over an item (a hint popup maybe), allow the player to speed up or even pause the simulation (that might seem like cheating but it felt like a puzzle game to me so if it's a puzzle game you could consider allow players to stop and think, or speeding up when they found the solution).

These are just suggestions that came through my mind but the game still feels complete and fun so really nice job!
