The Great Dangling by magopian
You can either play the jam version of this game here (only in Firefox I believe), or the fixed version published on itch.io.
IF YOU ARE STUCK ON A LEVEL, PRESS "R" TO RESTART IT.
HOW TO PLAY: bring the last dangling tiny creature under your thumb to the next flashing target. Grow the dangle, get to the wine bottle!
The logic (not very logical, not very helpful to playing the game, you can skip this part):
You want to bring all the tiny creatures to their craving target:
- blood drop -> bandaid
- mosquito -> arm
- spider -> web
- frog -> lilypad
- frenchie -> wine
How can you bring them to their target? By attracting them with something else they love!
- mosquito -> blood drop
- spider -> mosquito
- frog -> spider
- frenchie -> frog
The gameplay is building a chain of tiny creatures, and "grabbing" the next tiny creature (or its craving) using the last element in the dangling chain.
So the end result is a long chain in this order:
- thumb
- blood drop
- bandaid
- mosquito
- arm
- spider
- web
- frog
- lilypad
- frenchie
- wine
You'll find that it may be difficult because some pesky (very cute) rocks are laying in the way (or are they helping?). If you ever shoot a target too fast, it may fly off the screen, and you'll have to restart the level!
If you see a flashy red spiky thing, BEWARE.
The game is played with the mouse, moving the mouse (thumb) around to "grab" the tiny creatures.
Keyboard shortcuts: "r" to restart the level, "esc" to go back to the main menu.

Awesome and all around cutest graphics from itsBoats!!!
This game wouldn't have been possible without the awesome MrEliptik who saved me countless times with his extensive Godot knowledge, and huge patience. Check out his itchio page he's super talented!

Have you tried the ' nightmare level slider ' in the random levels ?
Have you tried the random levels, and the "nightmare level" slider at the top-left of the screen?
The random levels need some work to properly lay out the creatures, so you may need to "reload" a few times.
I had a good time with this :)
p.s. sfx is so adorable, love it.
You (not so) OBVIOUSLY have to protect your blood drop with a bandaid, or the mosquito will eat it up, as you have to protect the mosquito with an arm so the spider doesn't eat it up, and you have to protect the spider with its web so the frog doesn't it eat up, and obviously you need the lilypad so the frenchie (who eats frogs legs, as one does) can't eat it...
Yeah, it's completely crazy, i realize that, but it kinda made sense in the beginning hahahah :D
i would love to have more levels, especially with a bigger map and trickier ways to solve. i also think that it could be fun to find out what the chain should be on your own :)
i tried to start random levels, but the for some reason the button did nothing for me :(
The overall feel of the game is quite polished for a gamejam game, nice job!

This was fun! The sound effects were great, and the whole package was very cohesive! The only real feedback that I have is that it felt like the first few tutorial-style levels went on for a little bit too long, especially because they didn't really tutorialize the fun physics interactions that the later levels required. Once I got to those later levels, I had a blast trying to figure out how to fling my chain towards each item I needed to pick up, but in the beginning I had a completely different impression of the game, where I thought it was going to be more of a logic puzzle where I had to pick items up in the correct sequence.
My only other feedback is that I literally winced every time I had to start the level by pricking my finger on the thumbtack, but I think that might be a "me" problem - I am awful around blood, so this was some good immersion therapy lol
"Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag."
Speaking of the spiky thingy, I had some issues with the game not restarting after I got prickled by it (well, at least it's a short game so I just replayed it all over again 😅)
Mais sinon mécanique originale et bien foutue pour un jeu de jam, le tout fonctionne super bien. Bravo 🙏
Thanks @ecaterina @obidiix-minusinfinity @koolruz @lizz @spacecadet and @wendel-scardua for all your very nice feedbacks, and i'm definitely steeling, I mean, using your advices!
I plan on updating the game tomorrow and publishing the update on itch.io with a list of "post jam" fixes and improvements (if I manage to implement them ;)
Side note: sorry @koolruz for the wincing and "self inflicted pain" and "display of blood", I didn't think about that... I'll see if I can implement a "soft" version, not sure how yet. At the very least, it'll give me some food for thoughts for my future games, thanks for you feedback <3
nice game!
It means a lot to me, thank you
