The window here on ldjam seems to be cutting things off, perphaps I'm missing something? I'd recommend getting the game on itch.
It looks really cool though!
That being said, once I understood the game, the construction of my tiny organism and battling against the others in the world was a fun little gameplay loop--and the music is really fun, too!
I do wish a few organelles had numbers associated with them (so that I could see how much energy was generated, how much energy a given part might need, etc). Still, a fun time trying crazy designs and battling against other creatures!
Once I did get established it was hard to tell when I was taking damage, so I could go negative and die without noticing what was going on. It would've helped to have some audio or visual feedback that something bad is happening.
The gameplay and world view are very relevant to the theme. The simple pixel art style and cheerful music create a great atmosphere, making it very appealing to play. Currently, I believe the most serious issue is the "interaction problem." The game itself lacks any guidance; all detailed gameplay instructions are written on this webpage. Players who directly enter the game usually die immediately without any prompts. Even after reading the explanations on the webpage, I still couldn't figure out where my energy goes, what use organics have, or what the numerical values provided by each type of cell are. Often, the exact same actions can result in survival for over thirty seconds in one game and immediate death in another. Later, I realized that being hit by other organisms might deplete energy, but enemies spawn completely randomly, sometimes appearing suddenly right in front of you (even the large ones with vesicles). Additionally, the player character is positioned too far to the right in the camera view, and there's no clear distinction between the player and NPCs, making collisions very likely to occur.

One problem is that I did not figure out how to live longer and how much energy and organic they can produce to reach a balance. Hope it can be more clear:D
Good job on the game!
Amazing idea! The same way I thought is some kind of Lego tiny creatures, but I have to change my game because of experience, Happy to see you finish this, well done!
an interesting game but I need more guidence!
Aside from a tutorial a dedicated build menu would also help. Having a dialog for each cell in contrast to a menu, where you select your cells and then paint them onto the hex grid, would reduce the effort of expansion a lot and might also be easier to understand.
