Poppet by Emsea

As a self-employed paranormal exorcist, use a combination of investigative tools and deduction skills to identify the nature of malevolent spirits possessing poppets before the entities become too powerful to control.
[ HOW TO PLAY ]
Poppets initially appear lifeless but gradually exhibit eerie behavior as the spirit's power grows. They may subtly move when the player isn't looking, make faint noises like whispers or scream, switch off lights, or drain your power supply.
All of your electronic devices require power to operate. The crank located in the back of the room can be rotated to generate power and maintain your supply so devices stay functional. The EMF and Blacklight can be placed on the charge pad to replenish their batteries.
Use the Ghost Tracker to help identify clues from the paranormal activity and figure out the Ghost Type that occupies the Poppet. Once identified, place the Poppet into the specially equipped microwave, close the door, select the Ghost Type using the dial, then press the button to exorcize the spirit. A new Poppet will appear at the table after you have guessed correctly. How many spirits can you survive to get through the night?
If you guess incorrectly, or take too long, you die.
[ TIPS ] - Place items by pointing directly at the surface and pressing E. - You cannot interact when holding objects. - If something is not working, try it again at a distance. - Placement in the microwave is important. Be sure to center the Poppet on the marker inside before submitting your choice. - If the Poppet is too active, press the green button to temporarily stun the spirit. This should only be used in case of emergencies and has a cooldown between presses.

We are aware of some bugs that are present in the LD56 build:
- Funky collision on the Microwave..
- We are lacking feedback on the poppets respawning and dying..
- Not all objects have sound effects, this includes some devices..
We also didn't have time to tutorialize it properly.
Changes will be coming in a post jam update at a later date.
Many thanks for playing our tiny game <3

(Please keep the excel sheet!!!! xD )
As others mentioned, collisions issues happened, but they didn't hinder my experience thaaat much.
Amazing visuals entry!
Sorry for any unintentional pain we may have caused making you watch us try desperately to use the microwave.
The design, aesthetic, and overall execution of this game is both ambitious and really solid!
I think with just a few minor bug fixes, this would be an excellent spooky experience.

Also Wanted to ask if youre fine with me using gameplay from the game in this LDs [score chasers tournament](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/$405421/ludum-dare-score-chasers-qualification-begins) intermission video. (Would play in the breaks of the tournament on my stream). Last year for reference

*Sadly won't be publishing video of it as my playthrough didn't do game any justice. My bad!
I would like to try the more polished version when it's out :)

The sound effect work is excellent, really elevates the spookiness. It's a creative and fun take on the theme!
It took me a bit to get used to the gameplay loop, identifying all the clues in time and exploring the environment to find all the tools I could use, but once I did I really enjoyed it.
The only only problem is interacting with things and putting them down took a bit to get used to especially because it doesn't always work
really good entry, I enjoyed it a lot!
We truely appreciate all of the support we've gotten from the LD community and have applied a number of improvements to the project based on your feedback. You can see all of the new changes in version 1.2, [available now.](https://emsea.itch.io/poppet)
We also have a challenge for Score Chasers. [More Info Here](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/poppet/hallow-there-o-o)
Poppet is the single greatest game to yet grace this wretched Earth. My poppet playtime is likely rivaled only by those who developed the game. The first time I played Poppet I played it for 40 minutes straight, and there is uncut video evidence of this occurrence. The game initially was really small and in the middle of my screen, and nothing really worked right but I was glued to it. I couldn't stop. My first time playing, I achieved one intentional Poppet prediction with the help of @Autotrophian and called it a night, but with the caveat that if the game were updated to fix the bugs we would 100% be back. Fast forward a couple of days, and there had been a bugfix. And back we were. We played Poppet in-between game requests on stream and in turn played it for an additional hour and 8 minutes, defeating 6 poppets in one night and becoming the first streamer to beat the game even in its still decently buggy state with the help of @Autotrophian and @Langotriel , discovering that this game is stupidly fun when in a call with 2 other people you're sharing your screen with. Fast forward to today where yet another bugfix drops and the game is genuinely perfect now. With v1.2 every game-breaking issue that plagued the game at launch has been patched and this game stands strong as my favorite from this jam. I see so much potential here. To date my total playtime comes out to around 2 hours and 5 minutes, since we came back and defeated every single type of poppet in one night (and an extra phantom for good measure). So as of right now 9 Poppets is the score to beat. This one is a 10/10. Seriously great work.
