How to Play
Controls
Use your mouse to interact with the world. You can pick up H.O.C.'s, eggs and items, as well as buy things at the shop.
Selling and Quests
Sell your H.O.C.'s by dragging them into the slots at the top of the screen. The quest slots on the left are specific requests that pay more, but require specific characteristics. You can sell any H.O.C. at the top right slot for a lower amount.
Buying
You can spend your money buying the items on the right. Each item can help you manage your H.O.C. ~~slaughterhouse~~ terrarium.
Purchaseable Items
- Sausage: Feed H.O.C.'s so they don't starve
- H.O.C. Egg: buy an egg with random attributes to diversify your gene pool
- Shelf: add more floors to your terrarium
- Fence: add a vertical divider to separate H.O.C.s
- Bed: put your H.O.C.'s to sleep to replenish energy

@allenw thank you for the feedback! <3 to get new variants if you don't have the "genes" in the "gene pool" you have to purchase a new egg from the store (right side) and just hope that RNGeezus favors you hehe
The download worked fin though, was a cool game

You also managed to recreate the feeling of accidentally hitting your dog in MC by adding the ability to toss them out of the cage :(
Weakest part for me is UI, shop/inventory and lack of explanations, but I understand there is never enough time. I didn't understand what makes the "order" for the creature worth, I didn't get why which features will the child get, didn't get why you have to spawn the meat in the middle of the screen and then activate it. Buying only horizontal platform is often worthless as little dudes tend to jump off them :(
Overall, despite my complaining, very solid entry
@frozenfire92 the meaning of H.O.C. is still largely up to debate, the scientific community apparently is still investigating, there are many candidates... Hugely Optimistic Creatures, Hasty Offspring Creators, Haphazardly Organized Creatures, among others :)
@haayaargh thank you for the feedback, all doubts and constructive criticism are very welcome. We have worked on a post compo version that addresses a couple of the points you have raised, but mostly it boils down to what we were able to do in the time available. Once again though, thank you for your remarks, it certainly points towards things we should/could improve!
Took me a little bit to figure things out, as I hadn't read the full description before playing the game. The main thing I missed as a result was the importance of buying new eggs to diversify the gene pool. The use of all of the other items was intuitive to me, though the costs felt a little steep. I also really wanted something to speed up the incubation of eggs - I don't _think_ the bed helped with that, but I wasn't certain.
I also never fully understood the ui elements on each HOC, particularly the circle and dot.
I also accidentally dropped a few HOCS off the side of the world. It probably led to an exciting adventure for them, but was frustrating for me.
The UI elements weren't really well made, we would've liked to make it more diegetic, but there are 3 attributes represented there (energy, hunger and comfort) and an overall which is a combination of the 3. Didn't turn out great though, fully agree on that :)
The bed indeed doesn't help with incubation time, we also had the idea of adding an item to do just that, but also didn't have time to implement it.
I chuckled at the "exciting adventure" lol, but yeah, we're aware of that bug, managed to reduce the probability, but still happens... should probably add some kind of capture mechanism outside and teleport the HOC back into the terrarium.
Once again, thank you very much for playing and for your feedback. I'll check your game too :)
It would also have been great if there were some in-game tooltips with info.
Nonetheless nice job!
Thank you for the feedback!
Amazing sound effects! Love the chill gaming experience, toying with them H.O.C's, feeding them sausages and punishing some for being little gluttons they are
Thank you for bringing this Pro Creation to my stream :)
