Supply and Command by sorro

[raw]
made by sorro for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

About the game: A small strategy game to be played against the computer. There was supposedly a failsafe for the computer side to prevent it from starting with the tier 2 resource (soda can), but it is broken. Due to real life time constraints, we were unable to fix this before submitting. It is not gamebreaking but if the computer starts collecting the soda can, you should probably reset to have some challenge. Also included various other bugs and odd behaviour. :) Also sound not included, due to the limited time available. Maybe available at a later date in the form of a 4,99$ DLC.

How to play: Gather Resources, buy units, see your enemy driven before you and destroy their castle

Controls: Mouse Left to select unit Mouse Left to move selected units Mouse Right to deselect units Keyboard 1,2,3 to buy units: 1 - Worker 2 - Warrior 3 - Magic Man LD56 screenshot.png

Wow! Great work getting a fully functional RTS working! Took a while to get used to unit select/deselect without an indicator - but once I did, I had fun amassing my worker horde, getting a little unit squad together, and crushing the enemy. Great work!

It's kinda crazy that you just created a functional RTS on a weekend gamejam! I actually lost myself a couple minutes in the gameplay! Obviously there are some things that are missing like pathfinding. Also the combat system in terms of who shoots first wins is a bit random unfair right now. But its a great result for a gamejam and the missing pathfinding even gave it a little strategical twist.

Nice idea, just needed a little bit more love to grow into a really good game. The main aspect where I think you could put a bit more effort is on player feedback, such as understanding how resources where collected and when they were about to run out, when a creature was hitting another one, and so on; they could make a really huge difference. Also, I think there's a bug in commanding warriors, as they seem to follow my mouse clicks every time I click on a worker.

I made an RTS last ludum dare, so I can appreciate how much work goes into it. I enjoyed it, although I found it a little clunky to select units. I kept on thinking I selected a new unit, but instead was commanding the old unit to move somewhere. Maybe a highlight or something on the currently selected unit would help.

Impressive RTS for a weekend! Loved building up my army and the atmosphere. Unit selection was tricky, but still a lot of fun. Great job!

I had a little difficulty selecting units, I constantly forgot that I had selected someone, I think it was worth making some kind of indication. It’s very cool that you decided to make an RTS, I was always scared away from such ideas by the fact that I wouldn’t have time to make the enemies’ intelligence in such a time frame

Man, RTS are cool but are they hard to make and to polish. It is a very cool take you got going there, a shame you didn't have more time to improve the interface and feedbacks
