La Révolution Francheese: Bonamouse by MrBananaz

Bonjour, mes soldats!
Our great General, Napoleon Bonamouse is mounting his revolutionary forces to defend the great cheese fortress from the invading rat forces. The Rat King, Louis the Cheese Snatcher is willing to sacrifice his forcess into our defenses.
As long as the General can muster new forces to keep the defense alive, we will prevail!
Pour la gloire et l’honneur, en avant, mes braves!

Controls
- Use your mouse to control the direction of Napoleon
- Hold mouse left click to move
- Right click to dash
How to play
- Grab small pieces of cheese by running over them, once you capture a piece of cheese, you can:
- deliver the cheese to the base in order to heal it or increase it's size
- find and recruit groups of roaming mice on the map, they will join your base's revolutionary defense when you lure them near your fromage fortress
- As long as your revolutionary shield is alive, you rats will not be able to steal from your fortress
- Without a shield, rats will be able to start stealing, decreasing your fortress size, be careful!

The theme really kicked our asses, we brainstormed for about 2-3 hours before we started working on the idea, with day one going mostly towards systems and concept art. Btw, the entire idea was cemented by this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deWu8CWiGos
48 hours in, we still didn't have a playable prototype, but we told ourselves we'll have it by mid-day 3. Of course, we had something by mid-day 3, but as with all crunch time, bugs started appearing here and there.
We fell in and out of love with Godot, but eventually, we managed to have the build in the last minutes of the Jam (with some game breaking issues when changing scenes, but we managed to patch those also. We still have some nasty bugs, but hopefully we'll be able to fix them between work calls.
Thanks to everyone in the team who worked their asses off, with an average of about 10 hours of sleep per person during the 72 hours of the jam.
Thank you LD56!

Really like the art and audio on this game. The dying by traps was not entirely clear to me what happened in the beginning. Good job!
Also, the cigarettes on the floor made me laugh, you can tell this game was made a bunch of vraiment french guys!
The game crashed for me a couple of times and had to restart, other than that good job guys.
I haven't quite figured out how to lure the mice, but the rats beat me every time they show up. But the "tornado" of mice is also cool
I enjoyed figuring out how to fight rats. Well done fellow baguette enjoyer!
It took a while to get used to the movement mechanics, but once I got that the gameplay was surprisingly fun. Drifting around, grabbing cheese and gathering my loyal followers!
What I would like to see is more feedback for player actions. Like when the player dies in a trap or triggers the small mice to follow.
(loved the game)
This circle of mice, our role is to collect cheese. I liked this experience))
Wasn't sure what to do at the beginning (ok I havn't read the tutorial here). But finally was able to finish it even after some cheeses were stolen. Art is very good, gameplay too simple but liked the controls, it was fun. Only thing I would say is a better feedback/animation when colliding with a trap.
Nice entry and glad you liked Godot!
Love the game and the illustration is beautiful <3
thanks
As a french person, I could not stay away from this cute cheese-about game, so bravo, bien joué et merci, c'était très amusant !
@ecaterina you comment is the the best! It really made our day. Thanks for playing our game everyone!
I think it may become a bit of a tug of war at a certain point when your speed of getting new cheese / recruiting matches the amount of rats incoming and this may stall for a while, but still, I appreciate both the art and the theme view :)
I wish the gameplay felt so fun. That sliding movement was really strange and unnatural for a mouse. Once the rats start coming, it's just a wall of them and it doesn't really feel like there's a fun way to do anything about it.
My mice don't interact with the rats, so I was always under the impression that the defenses were not properly working. Maybe make the rats "attractors" during the "battle".
Otherwise very beautiful game
