Regarding "Day One Patch" Download

The Day One Patch download includes some fixes that make the game a nicer experience solely based on what we saw as bugs and wanted to fix but couldn't do so in time. This is only meant as an addition to have that nicer experience, but obviously don't let this be part of your rating; use the "Jam Entry" download instead.

Changelog: - The death screen shows the mouse cursor - The health bar and spell list are hidden in the death screen - Buttons in the menus are no longer showing gray backgrounds and white outlines when clicked - Starting the game fades in the game instead of the stuttering Unreal loading - When dying, the death screen is delayed and you can see yourself dying - "Zapocalypse" works now as intended (going all four directions around the player) and visuals and audio are triggered correctly - The ice dart of "Glacial Cascade" no longer has collision and pushes the player or enemies

Addressing comments including "Helldivers"

Attention, Citizens of Super Earth:

In the latest dissemination of information, it has come to our attention that there are spurious allegations linking our esteemed spell-summoning system to the "Helldivers" initiative. We wish to clarify that this system operates independently and is not acquainted with the aforementioned entity.

Such conjectures are likely the work of Automatons, known for their propensity to fabricate bizarre and unfounded claims. Rest assured, these assertions hold no merit.

Your vigilance is paramount. A Democracy Officer will be in contact to further elucidate the matter and reinforce the tenets of our great society.

End Transmission.

Gameplay was fun but the interaction was a bit wonky. It would seem as though my spell hit an enemy but didn't do anything. Other than that, it was pretty fun just running around and killin enemies. Been playing Helldivers lately so I already got the muscle memory for the spell inputs!

Pretty cool ! I love the fact that you used the mechanics to summon spells like Helldivers 2 with the arrow keys.
Super original :D
I played that game for quite a long time it's addicting ahah.
Got also the glacial cascade.

From a game-play perspective I would say that the turning around animation was a bit too slow.
Even If I prepare a all the spell but not the last arrow. Sometimes you want to turn fast around to cast it and kill the enemy. But the rotation being too slow you miss the target so it doesn't feel as snappy and responsive as it should.

Of course the fact that you can just go to a corner to fully heal yourself maybe questions the fact that there is unlimited heals.

The flashy effects are nice. The game seems optimized for a UE project. Very good!

We also added now a disclaimer about allegations to "Helldivers", whoever that is.

Cool mechanic and the visual are good. I found this game fairly hard and that may have just been me not playing very well but it seemed very difficult to avoid taking damage while attacking. Overall a very solid entry.

@caveman54 thanks for your feedback. Yeah, it's certainly not easy to focus on positioning correctly, entering the spell sequence and at the same time adjust rotation. Very valid feedback :-)

Interesting use of the Helldivers/cheat code mechanic! I would've liked some more movement variation alongside of it like a dodge so that I can change my focus to moving around a bit more from time to time and maybe a build up of the enemies attack would have been nice for a better way of dodging them. Nice entry!

The game is interesting, the mechanic of casting spells reminds me a lot of how stratagems are called in Helldivers 2. One thing I found difficult is successfully using attacks where you needed to aim well at an enemy. Then, of course, the time for Ludum Dare is short, so it's difficult to implement things perfectly! However, you did a great job in such a short time, and I think it's a project you could continue with!
