Summoning your own savannah

Introduction

You are an explorer. During your adventures you have acquired a rare staff which can summon animals. One day, an evil mage comes here. Unfortunately, he has the same staff. Get ready for the mess.

SUMMONING animals, FIGHT against the enemies, CRAFT animals to build your summoning pool.

https://youtu.be/0JF_3pv95RQ (If you have problem accessing youtube, we provide you a bilibili link: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1rT42117sw/ )

How to Play

  • Use mouse (the device) to move summoning position.

Tips

  • Rats free. Crafting rats decreases the probability of other animals, so for the sake of your experience, we kindly recommend you not to craft rats.
  • Terrible architecture. Your castle has much less health than the enemy's.
  • Mastery of magic. Your summoning speed is twice as your enemy's.
  • Law of the jungle. Be care of bears. They are extremely dangerous.
  • Darwinian evolution. You sometimes summon a mutated animal. Stronger, and very pink.

I enjoyed the crafting mechanic! I also liked the hand-drawn graphics, very stylistic. would have enjoyed some way to interact with the board other than just moving the summoning position.

Solid concept! Not a ton of pushback in this state but I love making new animals and seeing what's next.

I didn't expect that when clicking the link x) it's so epic and a nice mess. Turtle for the win! (couldn't reach more than wave 8)

I love the design of animals. The square tortoise and the cat named 'tiger' really make me laugh. I protected my cat to the enemy field and gained victory immediately. The random combination system is also awesome.

This is a really surprising idea for this year's topic! I love the graphics and the mood of the game.

Really nice concept that forces you to think 1 second ahead at all times. It is definitely using a part of the brain that isn't used often! I like the chaos that comes with unlocking new animals, it is funny to see turtles and zebras flying across the screen!

Its a game jam so you only had so much time, but if you develop it more, I would love a right click spell or something that will give me more to think about - maybe an ultimate ability or something.

Great job!

That was a lot of fun, I had a good time with it and could see myself playing more!
The only things I thought it may be lacking were perhaps a level of interactivity, I had only been moving the mouse up and down, and perhaps a little more visual feedback from being hit. I could tell I was looking mostly at the middle of the screen to anticipate where I had to move next, and so couldn't always see my own walls be hit or my health go down. This absolutely could be me though.

The crafting mechanic was fun and very pleasant to look at all the art :)

Super charming game, well done! I love the hand drawn assets. The gameplay is a lot of fun as well and the fruit crafting mechanic is very engaging. My favorite part has to be the exploding hedgehogs ^^
Great job!

Super fun idea! I like the buying/leveling up system, and the animal mutations. Art was nice and fit well, I almost wish the screen was zoomed in like...10% more? it would be easier to see the animals and mutations. Really liked this!

This is really good!! Simple and fun. I especially like the progression system, having items to combine into possible upgrades is way more interesting that standard levels :)

We prepared larger resolution versions if you want to try. It is 720p on itch.io and 1080p on the win package. Thank you so much!

Very fun game, one of the best I've played so far!
Very addictive, the randomness and the many combinations of animals to opt for make you wanna play again and again.
The visuals and the epic music are very nice as well!

The only tiny suggestion I have is to make the enemy's animal color just slightly different (a bit darker or whatever), because it quckly gets confusing, especially with the turtles.

Very great job! :)

What a fun entry!! Maybe a bit unbalanced - AI got like four new animals in round 3 and I just had 3 ':D But it could be a really fun multiplayer game at some point! Nicely done.

Simple but really fun! Discovering and deciding which animals was great too! Maybe a little too easy at the start? But one of my favs so far!

A very refreshing gaming experience! This reminds me of some danmaku games on Tik Tok, but your game has richer and more interesting content. I especially like its art, it makes people happy all of a sudden.

Haha this one is hillarious. Great job on the unit design. It got really addicting after i figuered what is even happening on the screen. Jokes on you for the rats free tip.

The music also fits the mood of the game and sounds great although it was a little repettitive after a while. I had also hoped there where some soundeffects.

All in all great job though!

The concept is so fun! I love the whole animal crafting (my Zebras were the most beefy zebras you've ever seen ). I'm not sure if the drops you get after each wave depend on something, or they are just randomized. But anyway it is, the crafting is great.

It's also great that each animal has its own behavior and quirky animation. Super fun to watch.

The gameplay during the fight stages could be more involved. I felt like I didn't have much agency. Don't get me wrong, the positioning mattered, of course. But I'd like to be able to do more than just move my mouse around. Maybe some buff/debuff spells I could cast with keyboard keys, for example.

Great work on the game!

I loved it ! Congratulations for this really nice entry ! The aesthetic is really cool, everythings fit well together.
Maybe there is some balance problems, as I felt like the IA improved faster than me, but maybe it's just because I'm bad at the game. I'll definitly come back to this game and try to do better !

I really liked that u can create new animals depending on the combinations u make! It was also really fun seeing the animals going faster and faster, and then suddenly some huge explosion would happen haha
It is just a little confusing if the animals are yours or from the enemy, just changing up a little bit the colours from the animals from the enemy would help. But overrall I really enjoyed it, great work!

I love the concept here! I'm a little curious if the spoils from each round are purely random, though - sometimes I would get three crafting materials (fruits?); sometimes I would get four. I'll admit I never made it past five rounds; maybe I don't understand the strategy (apart from "focus on your enemy's heavy hitters"), but I can't help but feel like victory is a *bit* reliant on RNG.
