Djimm's Revenge

Summon Djimm, the evil Djinn and battle his army of spirits using your agility and bottomless bag of apples. Collect the wishes you deserve and sentence Djimm to another ten thousand years of peaceful slumber.

Goal:

Throw apples to deter evil spirits, and collect three wishes to escape the evil Djinn. Wishes will arrive, but not as quickly as evil spirits!

You LOSE if you touch an EVIL BLUE SPIRIT! (balls that slowly grow and multiply)

You WIN if you can collect THREE wishes! (stars that slowly appear)

Don't let Djimm the Evil Djinn collect YOU!

Controls:

Move: WASD/Left-Joystick

Jump: Space/A

Throw: Click/Right-Trigger (HOLD for more power)

Post-Publish Fixes & Changes: - Sound cutout/volume issues - Retry flow - Added builds for WebGL, macOS, linux - Another retry flow bug

Known Issues & Bugs: - Sound controls not always working, especially mute - Collisions can be wonky, especially through platforms - Lighting restrictions on WebGL causing flicker/missing torch light

Really good visuals - fantastic animation, at that. My gripes with the game are just that the bubbles spawn a bit too quickly and the collision detection is a bit sketchy, both with the bubbles and the player (I got stuck on corners a number of times). Overall, I think it's an enjoyable and surprisingly polished title that deserves more attention than it's getting.

Just a heads up, for you to get more ratings and feedback on your game, you need to rate and give feedback yourself. That's how the algorithm is set up.

That said, nice simple gameplay, and I like how it's a djinn and not a demon, unlike the majority of submissions.

I saw audio controls, but I wasn't getting any audio. Beyond that, the game was fun! I was a little frustrated by bubbles spawning from popped bubbles, but it did seem to be a way to prevent the player from keeping them in check, though on my final attempt, I pretty much just kept chucking apples at Djimm, and he couldn't keep anything in play. Maybe there should an apple limit that refreshes over time? Only an idea.

I love the caracter animation and the gameplay idea. My only problem is that it's very tedious to retry.... it should work with a single button.

Really nice animation. Something weird seems to be going on with collision detection -- I kept bouncing off of platforms that I thought were higher above me? And it wasn't clear sometimes why I got caught. Maybe bubbles were spawning right on top of me? Nice artwork though.

This is really good presentation-wise. Cool intro and theme and animations, particularly the jump animation. It is fun but a little bit trivial to just stand in the center killing bubbles until a star spawns.

Really nice graphics. Sometimes the music would cut out randomly. Also both the 'Retry' and 'Quit' buttons seemed to both bring you to the main menu which is annoying since you have to go through the intro cutscene again. The controls for throwing the apple could have been made a bit clearer. I felt like there were a bit too many bubbles and the bubbles splitting up when you destroyed one just made it harder.

The art and animations look really good, and the music fits the mood. Everything in the game works and feels quite polished actually, but it is just too easy to spam apples right in front of him and win. Overall nice work!

Great idea and art! Nice apple reference, too.

The issues I see is, restarting the game takes too much time and sometimes bubbles can spawn from out of nowhere, just right at the player. It gets impossible to restart the game after 2nd (or 3rd, not sure) game over, it even happens in the Windows build.

Great potential this game has.

Tricky but good fun! Really like the main character animations, gives me sort of Prince of Persia crossed with Lemmings vibes

Nice game! I liked the art style and the animations. Sometimes blue spirits spawned exactly where my character was, so there is nothing I could do to avoid losing.

I liked the game! Cool and simple pixel graphics! Of course, I slightly lowered my eyes at the very beginning of the game what to do, but you did a good job!

Really fluid animations, fun premise, and a tricky objective! Not a lot to the game, but what's there is well put together and at the end of any LD, that's pretty much all you can hope for. Nothing felt super clumsy during my playthrough, everything fits together without being undercooked or excessive. Big props for having a cutscene and a story. I don't blame Djimm, if I were resting for that long I'd probably do the same thing whoever woke me up too.

The pixel art and the animations, which are reminiscent of Prince of Persia, look quite polished and the Gameplay loop is nice. Not a huge deal for a jam game but some variety for the attacks could be great. Excellent job!

Loved the art for the game. The gameplay was fun, if you decide to add more features in the future more attack variation would be cool. Small bug I encountered was the audio slider didn't change the volume of the music, but nothing major. Overall a fun little game.
