What The Duck? by purplexy

[raw]
made by purplexy for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

Your goal is to summon ducks. Just choose duck’s parts to fight against verbal abuse. Have fun and be kind to others, we're all ducks in a way, even though we're all different.

And yeah, they kind of look like geese... let's call it a feature.

CONTROLS: QWER - choose part of duck

Quack. With no idea what each part does, it really is just a spam-fest. But a quacking good one. Very amusing and great surprise ending. Well done!

LOVE the quack sound lol, but I wish I could just use the mouse to click on the parts I want. Overall funny little cute game!

A very funny idea that makes an amusing game. Graphics and sound are good. I tried optimising each duck's stats but never was sure what I was doing, nor did it seem to matter very much. You could make an interesting strategy game out of this with more work. It would help if you give better feedback when the player launches a new duck. First I thought my ducks just disappeared because I did something wrong.

Hey, thanks for the detailed feedback! Yeah, at first we planned too much of everything, but animations and their tweaking ended up taking most of the time, leaving almost none for balancing out the stats and getting features other than duck assembly done properly, haha

i really like the idea of these ducks!
It was a fun game, but since I was really focused on the summoning part of the ducks, i rarely looked up to see the actual fight! So if you want to be nitpicky it would have been nice to combine these two parts better, so that the experience is even better!

Quack Quack!

Oh duck yeah! I didn't realize what I was doing at first, but then it dawned on me that it was build-a-duck. The pixel art aesthetic and animations did a great job at selling the different duck parts. The whimsical music and UI polish (animated icons, etc.) all contributed to the goofy nature of the game.

The game was pretty easy as a spam-fest. Was kind of expecting Mr. Demonlord to put up a bit more fight. There also seemed to be way more head options than other parts. I did quite enjoy trying to add as many feet as possible to a single duck...I call it a ducktipede.

Shut the duck up, because that was a fun few minutes of gameplay!
