Hello, Me by ZeroByter

[raw]
made by ZeroByter for Ludum Dare 55 (COMPO)

Hello, Me is a simple top-down game where you must explore and collect items around the level to complete your summoning ritual...

But beware of what adventure lies for you ahead, once you complete the ritual! You must be quick to succeed!

Controls

  • WASD: Move around
  • Space: Pick up/drop items / extuingish dropped lit candles
  • Escape: Back to main menu (progress not saved)

How to play (spoilers)

!> 1. Collect apples and place them in the circle outline 2. Collect candles and place them in the triangle outline 3. Collect a stick to light a fire in the fire pit (black pit to the right of ritual place) 4. Collect second stick to ignire from fire pit and light up all the candles 5. Now in the ghost realm: follow your physical body and collect skulls 6. Place skulls on square outline (purple ritual site) 7. Collect candles and place them in the circle outline (purple ritual site) 8. Collect a stick and light up the candles BEFORE your physical body finishes his ritual 9. Win!

Not enough time!

I was forced to finish this game 11 hours ahead of the actual compo deadline, so some of the features I planned didn't get put in. These are: (spoilers)

!> - A puzzle mechanism to make completing the ritual more challenging than just collecting stuff - Ability to interrupt physical player copy by pushing him or stealing the items he is trying to pick up - Polished ghost player animations - More, better music

Good job on this!
Game fitted really well with the theme and the main character was very cute.
music was quite simple but it fitted the art style.

Overall Awesome job!

I'm not sure if anyone else experienced it but I had the game start lagging in the middle of the play through.

Other than that it was good, I personally found the music rather jarring though.

Cute character, the music fits the mood properly and it's always nice to summon stuff on a satanic diagram I guess haha
Good job!

Reminds me of Yume Nikki in both the good and bad ways. Very nice aesthetic, but the puzzles can be unintuitive.

On the basic idea of gathering objects it would be cool to help the player a little to understand what he should do and why. The character has a good face, it would be nice to add an animation when he moves upwards so that we can see him from behind.

Nice game and also interesting game idea! I really love that type of games, but when I put an apple my fps dropped really low =D

Sound track could use just a little more variety, but there's some solid retro tones going on. The movement felt a bit off, like most of the time the character would move a fixed amount in any given direction, but then sometimes they would move just a little bit. It made it hard to actually interact with some of the items on the ground because it was hard to line up with them.

For whatever it's worth it's kind of fun, but the game crashed as I was finishing the puzzle :(

Fun game but very challenging, because my true form moved so fast I didn't feel up for grinding out a win, but still I liked the idea a lot. Maybe could have used a slightly longer music loop :P. Still surprisingly fun for what it is.

Fun submission! Unfortunately it crashed while I was trying to light the candles for the first time. It didn't feel immediately intuitive to place the candles on the triangles, especially because there was no visual feedback that they were in the right place, whereas the apples showed the black mass growing. I really liked the little guy's graphics, very cute

Solid interpretation of the theme and good job on covering all bases in just 31 hours (audio, visuals, etc). Good job!

This could've been fun but at least for me the game lags so much that its impossible to play. This is a very good idea for a game and i wish i could play it.

This is a *beautiful* idea! Very well fitting the theme. BTW cheers from another JS dev (I don't do plain JS though XD).

The complaint is that it starts to lag very quickly.. cannot finish anything that way. : /

Good luck!
