Call of Duties

Background

Welcome to "Call of Duties," a life simulation game. Every homework assignment and family task you face is not just a duty; it's a "Summon" to action. Prepare to navigate the whirlwinds of adolescence where teachers and parents frequently summon you to meet their high expectations.

Be careful! Their patience is limited, all calls must be answered within the confines of a ticking clock.

A delightful game, perhaps it could benefit from a bit more explanation in some minigames. A very good idea for a jam and quite comprehensive.

The graphics are cute, the figures and lines reminds me of classic Asian school & family LOL. The puzzles and mini games are really fun! Thought it would be easy, but it gets harder very soon. Played for about 5 times to get the good end. Love it! Looking forward to your new work, jammer!

(your itch page does not work well, had to download zip file to play)

I liked that it REALLY felt like you were being summoned from place to place. I liked the fact that there's a small minigame to run from one place to another, which further adds to the feeling of having to go from place to place fast.

The minigames themselves were okay. I got the feeling that the cleaning the desk one was impossible. The dropping the book/cloth/toy bugged a few times, and felt impossible to react to dropping the book. Copying and maths were fine. Didn't even get to try to store one.

It was a nice experience, I wouldn't play again because it doesn't leave me curious to see more.

Thank you for sharing!

Really challenging game, interesting idea, quite liked it.
I just seem to attract bugs - on mothers task, sometimes score is not added on success, and one time items started disappearing right at the start.
On fathers mission, cleaning table is impossible, as "cloth" size is very, very small.
On couches task, I just didn't expect the ball to go out of bounds of image - if that was intentional, maybe consider scaling image to screen size?
In English class, one time I couldn't continue to write in the middle of the sentence.

But overall, working tasks were challenging too)

@doodledu Thank you for beating our game! Quite a skillful player you are!

(As for the itch page, we only test it in Chrome on Windows machines and it works OK. Would you like to share the configuration of your computer?)

@dasilvacontin @dagunov Thanks for your feedback! To be honest, we barely made it to the submission deadline, and had no time to polish or fix bugs. We are aware of those problems you encountered. But we are not sure if it's OK to keep updating our submission after the deadline.

What an anxiety simulator! Quite well matches the development stress during the ludum dare. That must have been very meta experience developing this game. Great job!

@iphelf Congrats for making it to the deadline! Some old rules I found say:

Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players.

Thank you for that game! That was stressful.
Cool thing that you managed to build all these minigames in the short time. I had fun handling all of those tasks, even if I failed one or two summons. The difficulty curve felt right.
You also managed to build a readable interface, that's no small feat. I didn't have to re-read controls during the game, since everything I needed was right there.
It felt a bit awkward having to switch between mouse and keyboard for different tasks, but I guess that was part of the experience, everyone wants something else from you.
I also got briefly stuck during typing until I realized that it didn't take my last space - a small cursor would have helped tremendously.
Overall, great entry! :)

Nice! I like the take on the theme! It even had a little "sum-moning" in the math class!! That mood was great with the art and sound and gameplay. I felt rushed which was exactly the point. And the punny game name! You did it all.

This was fun but nerve wracking! :D I was a little thrown off when multiple songs played at once (HTML5 version) and when there were audio cues without a visual element to indicate what's making the sound. In the end I had to copy a sentence but after a few words it just stopped and I could do nothing to progress.

Very solid art, sound selection was also quite good but some sounds (mostly the ringing bell) were a little loud and harsh on my headphones.

All in all a cool set of mini games that feel like I am spinning plates (which is good), but there's room to better communicate what's going on to the player in a couple of spots.

I like that you didn't stick with the obvious summons until the end, which was super dark BTW lol. Audio and graphics were good. I was a little confused on some of the mechanics, but all in all it was a solid game! Great job!
