made by GreaseMonkey for LD33 (JAM)
This is a game about dogfighting.

I didn't get far enough to actually implement the theme how I wanted to, so I've opted out of that category, but it is what lead me here.

Controls:

* Arrows to turn your plane
* L1/R1 to strafe
* X to rocket boost
* Square to shoot
* Start to restart the level

Yes, it's a PlayStation game. Get an emulator.

There's an emulator bundle on the itch.io page.

To invert the Y axis, set these bytes using your favourite cheat device:

[0x0190D0] = 0x40
[0x0190E8] = 0x10

Which apparently translates to the following GameShark codes:

300190D0 0040
300190E8 0010

Amazing feat to get this done in 48 hours. I have a soft spot for entries that target uncommon systems and this blew a gory low-poly hole right in it and flew on through.

Really cool! Knowing how much work it is to make something for such an old architecture makes it even more stunning. Gave me a nice Starfox/Starwing flashback.

I swapped the controls in pcsxr.

I should find out how to mod my PSX to run this game natively...

Wow, crazy cool! The game is simple but quite difficult. At first I wasn't able to get through the first level, but then I realized I could strafe, which made it so much easier. I only got to level 3 though, I presume that each level just increases the number of enemies until you get overwhelmed and can't continue further, right?

Amazing that this was done for a game jam. I'm making a PSX game for college, so i understand that it's pretty challenging. Awesome job! I should try burning this and playing in my PS1 sometime. :D

wow. totally awesome feel to this game. I don't think i've seen a playstation entry, ever. Cool. after quite a few fails i figured out how to kind of scope out ai and beat them. But once i got to fighting 3 at once, i was toast! the only really anoying thing was if you flew too high, you no longer had any real spacial view anymore, even though the camera really never flips. :D cool stuff.

Woah. I wouldn't even know where to begin making a game for PS1. Really cool entry, gave me that Lylat Wars vibe. Had some trouble with the bundled emulator, but then I tried ePSXe and that seemed to work OK. Really impressive, nice work!
