Re5ummon Me! by jerrre
Genre: kinda deckbuilding semi-auto-battler
- Start by investing STAT POINTS to the STAT TABLE
- CARDS have an attack value, health, and an optinonal ability
- After each hit cards get RESUMMONED from the statrow based on the new health
- So 13 health means a new card from the 1X ROW (because it starts with 1)
- The new attack and ability values are RANDOMLY picked from that row
- UNLOCK new attack points, abilities, ability points to defeat the final enemy!
- There are 7 enemies!!
* Thoughts * There are quite some things I'd like to have added (more, randomized abilities, balancing, better animation, sound) , think I worked around 14hrs total on it, and happy that it's in a state where you can play/win/lose and get the basic idea I had for the mechanic (I hope)
All done my myself solo.
Tools: - Godot 3 - the color scheme from pico-8 - No time for Sound
You can watch me play my own game + a bit of devlog here:(but of course that ruins the experience of trying it yourself from scratch, so first give it try I'd say :] ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtYNSScilXc

Great submission!
EDIT came back to the game: turns out I died on the last round previously haha. Sad it's not endless, still a great submission!
It was pretty difficult to understand throughout. All I know is that my cards attack the other cards, they have abilities, and sometimes they change into another card in my deck. Though, I don't know what is causing the cards to change mid-battle, and I'm not sure what "desperation" does. My strategy consisted of clicking random stuff in the stat screen, just get as many numbers up as possible, and pray. x') I lost after 4 rounds, but I'm still clueless as to why, and how I could make my deck better. I think a more visual breakdown of the mechanics, and a better way to display information to the player, instead of these daunting tables, would go a long way!
The core gameplay loop is fun and requires planning. Winning a battle feels rewarding and the game pushes you to keep building a better and better deck, as each opponent gets harder to win against.
The UI needs more columns names, as it is hard to decipher what each cell means at first. It would also be great if we could swap the order of the cards to add another layer of strategy (i.e. use heal after block).
The game could also use a feature to automatically continue to the next part of the battle, as there is way to influence the outcome after the battle has started.
Overall, the game is enjoyable, but needs a bit more polish.
However it felt like it was too easy to game it out.
Spoiler alert: Maxing out 1(_) attack and block basically made any enemy die almost instantly one my card reached 10-19 health. I tried to do the same with heal, however it just made the suffering longer, since I was just switching between 1(_) and 2(_) while 2(_) was not nearly as powerful.
However I couldn't imagine good way out from this.
Would be funny to do a simulated comparison fights of all the builds, that finished the game.
After I understood the game loop, it was fairly easy to beat - even tough I thought the last enemy will defeat me. But since the enemies cards seemed to get weaker the longer the fight progressed, it was easier to win.
As others already mentioned, it would be even more fun to randomize the cards and to have more abilities to choose from.
Overall a nice entry!
