Played all three portals. Missed the pumpkin seeds the first time round :(
Some thoughts:
- Wasn't 100% clear what the Potato's ability was... just a stronger carrot?
- Would be nice to have some kind of ending.
- It would be good to have platforms that are reachable only with the pumpkins in the first two levels, would give a reason to replay the levels.
- Probably needs a limit on the amount of veg you can hold - i had so many the text broke.
- Classic Jam Game floaty platformer jump, forgiveable but not a joy to control.
Quite liked the combination of farming and combat. Time still passes on the farm whilst you're away.
Most importantly, no game-breaking bugs!
Good work for two days!
The jump feels very float-y.
I really like the look of the main character.
I can see this being expended into something really cool, if you worked a bit on the platforming part.
The idea and fantasy of going out into the world through portals to collect new seeds while your army is growing, is very appealing.
it's an interesting idea. I jumped from a height and got into the forbidden part of the level. i thought i found the secret, but it turns out it was a bug ahaha
- the character controller was a little floaty and often got stuck on the corners of platforms,
- if I placed seeds too quickly in the farming area they'd clump together and then fall through the ground,
- a couple of times I summoned a bunch of veggies (particularly in level 1)and they'd get in each other's way and get stuck in a back and forth changing direction loop, meaning that I basically couldn't walk any further.
- in the third level I got stuck between an enemy, a pumpkin and the lip of a platform. It wall hacked me through the wall and I ended up inside the level and unable to complete it without a game restart.

Congratulations on your first Ludum Dare! Doing any sort of game jam is a huge feat, hope you keep it up and i look forward to seeing more games from you in the future.
Anyway, a rather unique take on the theme, a combination of planting and platforming. The hippy main character looks great.
One other thing I noticed is the UI sometimes covers the platforms you're jumping to. Perhaps making it slightly translucent would help?
Regardless, I enjoyed playing it and can see good potential in the mechanics. Great job!
The health bar will look better if moved on top of screen (as it is now with the transparent background it looks a little weird). The rest of UI don't have the same problem since they have background.
Nice entry!
Farming a lot of plants and seeing your "arsenal" grow more and more was satisfying.
I also got stuck in the last level without pumpkins. In the last level you can get stuck pretty easily if you don't have any pumpkins, a "reset" or "go back home" button would've probably helped with that.
The game could use some sound and the movement felt to floaty and slow, like others here said.
Overall I still had fun with your game.
- If there is a chance to get softlocked, make a reset/back to main hud menu.
- Getting stuck over enemies feels more like a nuisance than a mechanic. Either make it not feel like getting stuck or just get rid of it.
- Give the game an ending, even a simple "you did it" screen do wonders.
- Spare some time to make and add a couple of sound effects, it makes games feel 2 tiers above a completely mute one.
This being said, I hope to see you around next jam.
