For one, the performance is pretty bad. My framerate is pretty low as is, and it goes even lower during cutscenes. I even see console messages that the game is using too much graphics memory.
Secondly, the gameplay is very hard. It took me many tries to beat the first level. And it doesn't feel like I got better and was able to overcome the challenge, it felt like I got lucky spawns that were actually manageable.
Thirdly, it can be a bit buggy. If I get to the cutscene on the first level then lose, then I hit "try again", the next time the cutscene won't play anymore and I'll just lose instantly. So I have to quit every failed attempt. Also, the one time I got to level 2, I placed down a Knight to kill a row, except it didnt kill the enemy, and I lost because of it.
I really wanted to like the game because I think it's a fun concept, but as is, it's too frustrating. Regardless, I hope you had fun making it! There's definitely potential here :smile_cat:
Even with multiple people it's super impressive that you did this in 3 days!
From what I encountered:
- Placing 3 bishops will bid you farewell with your sound.
- The character kept flying off the map all the time.
- Figures are poorly placed on the bottom row.
- It simply becomes impossible to place figures.
- Very long menu loading times (I understand it's justified gameplay-wise, I won't spoil), but for a PC with NVMe SSD, 4090, and 128 GB RAM, it's strange.
Otherwise, I really liked the concept, the initial cutscene, and the idea with the menu. It turned out great, looking forward to the continuation =)
And yes, I've rummaged through all the folders, but there are no keys to the crypto wallet XD
