Get passengers to the SS Rescue before times runs out! Maximize lives or maximize profits, it's up to you! There's Limited Space on the boat!

Instructions

W,A,S,D to move.

  • Unload passengers on the SS Rescue
  • Once the rowboat reaches capacity, new passengers will eject old ones.
  • There is also limited space on the rescue ladder, so unload passengers slowly or else they will push each other off.
  • The wealthy first class passengers tend to move slower requiring you to unload even more slowly.
  • At the end of 3 minutes you will receive a different rating depending on how much money you made versus how many lives were lost.

Background

This game was made primarily as a learning exercise for the Godot Game Engine. All source code and assets are freely available under an open source license

(Unfortunately Godot 4.1.2 won't have WebGL support until much later this year, so Windows and Linux binaries will have to suffice)

I downloaded this game because the preview was interesting - I was expecting interesting gameplay. Of course, the game is not finished and not polished. There is not enough challenge for the player, not enough freedom of action. Saving nearby drowning people (due to time limits) requires picking up everyone who is lucky enough to be nearby.

@alextengu Did you try rescuing the wealthy people?
I suppose the freedom of action is in deciding whether to maximize lives or maximize profit.
The richer moneybags guys move slower on the ladder so you have to be more slow and thoughful when dropping the wealthy folks off. There's a tradeoff. The rating at the end differs depending on what you prioritized.

LOL this was fun! I wish there would have been little bit more polish, as this game had awesome idea and solid implementation. Dropping the survivors to the ladder was little bit buggy. There were no sounds? The movement of the boat felt little bit too on rails.

Yheaaa I am a CAPITALIST PIG too :pig:

For a learning exercise in Godot, you did great! The game had a easy gameplay loop with interesting decision making. I wish I had to press a button to unload survivor on the ladder as often it was unclear to me what was the trigger for it.

PS: Beside the game itself, you should set your game as free on itch at least during the testing period. It can become very tedious to have to click hundred of times "No thanks just take me to the download" to test your game.
I push over it this time but I know many people will just not bother with the extra click and will just skip to the next game in their queue.

This was not bad for a learning exercise. The concept was very unique and I liked that. I do wish however that the boat would go a significantly faster since a lot of the game is spent waiting and going back and forth between the rescue boat and the survivors. But overall this was a good game!

Hah! Interesting lil collection game! The prices on rescue really put an extra amount of flavor in there.
The game itself was pretty straightforward, but accidentally drowning ppl with the tail of my boat was awkward.

It would be interesting to see the total nr of rescuees, perhaps. Or some mechanism to get help. (some of the rescuers can row with you?)

Neat game!

Nice, I like the idea. A few bits of polish would make it a lot more interesting to play, such as swaying the boat , rocking it or even some basic movement mechanics (spam space to row). Good graphics.
