This idea deserves to be expanded on. A ton of mechanics you can apply to The Box. Great job!
I think this is No.1 for all ratings.
This game looks and feels amazing!
The art style is great.
The music is going into my top-3 list I heard on this jam so far.
The plot also looks good and fits the theme.
I like this puzzle + platforming combo.
Your team did a good job on all the fronts!
(Final Time: 0:08:24)
I can't say movement of the character is native for me, sometimes I jump near the edge of next platform but the frame just won't move.
Very cool graphics and sound!

My only negative comment is about the spring physics. In my opinion, it's bad to control the jump height. This is something to improve.
Congratulations for the game.
Game is challenging but fun. Art and sound sets a good mood 😀
On the technical side I can only mention a bit of tearing with white stripes in the middle of the screen (html5 version), a couple of times were I kinda teleported, and the fact that the springs were a bit wonky sometimes. I was also a bit confused about the key icon in the first levels, was there an hidden key? I tried looking around but I couldn't find it. Oh and the gamepad is highly suggested, I started with the keyboard but everything changed when the fire nation attacked (and I tried the gamepad: way better experience).
And now it's time for a weird coincidence OT: while playing your game I remembered that during the theme slaughter I came across "giraffe", and approved it because I immediately thought of a platformer where the character is a giraffe and can use it's unusual shape to cling to platforms and rotate (similarly to what you did with the safe space here) and liked that idea. Well, after trying your game and enjoying it so much I looked at your previous games and found @kepsert profile description stating "I appreciate giraffes" and his LD50 game giraffe o'clock and was stunned.
End of the weird OT, sorry for wasting your time, have a nice day and thank you for creating this gem.
The art is absolutely beautiful and I think that the overall vibes of the game are also fantastic. The color palette combined with the hands reaching out to grab you add to the general atmosphere in a way that's really, really well done and polished.
That end cutscene also made me feel all the feelings. (I had a very similar experience with one of my own grandparents not too long ago...)
Thank you for the wonderful game!
Also funny how you mention it- I did NOT submit giraffes as a theme, it's basically other people memeing around my LD50 entry (which does in fact use an unusually shaped giraffe- completely different from this game, though!) :D
I'm glad you enjoyed this game!
Only main issues are that I've gotten my safe space stuck in a wall and had to restart the level twice. Otherwise very smooth and gripping. Planned to take 30 minutes on this one and found myself completely engaged 2 hours later! Great job! Now to try and speedrun it!
Thank you for F2 ! This platformer is too much of a platformer for me. But I do appreciate the ingenuity of the safe-space mechanic. Quite unique!

Here's the VOD on YouTube to watch the gameplay, just skip to your chapter on the video!

Well done! Take a candy! :candy:
Maybe if I got all the collectibles I'd have gotten a different ending? But I am not going to make myself go through that again...
Lovely graphics and style and the accompanying audio was fantastic (although the more anxiety inducing ones in the level did only serve to further my frustrations as I struggled).
I did find that if you get on the elevator and have the safe space hit a wall it will push it through you and cause you to be stuck.

Nothing that stops me from thinking this was an amazing entry <3 (I had to quit on the last level because I couldn't get past the rest of the level after collecting the heart, but I'll try to come back to it later)

My only, one and only gripe - it felt like there needed to be checkpoints after the super difficult jumps/rotations. I cannot count how many times I started getting slightly frustrated at getting the first part, then falling to a hole I could never be aware of until too late XD.
Other than that, this was awesome. The ending hit like a truck too... rip.
Great work!
I had a lot of fun... the idea is interesting and in the later levels, when my space changes, it provides the right balance.
graphics and music are great.
The only complaint I have is that sometimes I find the hitboxes too merciless..
still one of the best games I've played
Played through the whole game, collected all the hearts, but could not figure out how to beat the last level.
And really hardcore one!
It took me some time and effort to pass it all through. I suspected that hearts are needed, but ending showed me why :(
Btw the core idea and level design are great! Very nice entry!
Foreshadowing?
Some polish points:
- You could rotate into blocks and get stuck.
- Maybe put some fog or something at the bottom holes to indicate death? I sometimes fell and died straight away since I didn't know I would die there. This later also happened because the camera was not zoomed out enough to see what was below me, this could probably be fixed by allowing the player to look up/down by holding S/W for a while?
- I am not completely sure how the velocity worked on the bounce pads, sometimes I got higher by repeating jumping and sometimes I didn't... Especially in the last level I felt like I completed the last jump by accident.
Really polished entry, thank you for the submission!
