A Halloween themed survival runner game for Ludum Dare 54, theme: Limited Space

Play as a ghost and try to escape from the witch!

Avoid the Jack O'Laterns and stay away from the witch for 30 seconds to win! Grab candies to regain space.

Controls: Up/Down arrow key

This is my first time doing a Game Jam, so I kept the scope as small as I could :v: Had a pretty simple concept and I'm glad I was able to finish the project, enjoy :ghost:

Bugfix - Tuned the spawner so there are no longer eternal safe spots near the edges

Simple and Cute! I successfully escaped since there was an eternal safe spot in the game, might watch out for that. Anyway, love it!

Congrats to your first entry, nice little game. I had the feeling that the Jack 'os only appear in the center, so staying at the top border seems to make i rather easy - maybe a bug? :grin:

Thanks for the feedback, I fixed that bug so it's now possible for Jack'os to spawn closer to the edges... (I thought I was just lucky during playtesting)

Great work on the first jam! new fixes makes it a bit more difficult but still a pretty simple and fun concept. I like the idea of the theme, and I respect the choice to keep the scope small as to not get overwhelmed. Great work!

really beautiful graphics! I liked the idea of the space slowly closing in on you, but it would be cool if there were other repercussions other than having less space to move in. Maybe it would keep closing in until you lose? Also it would be cool if your high score would display once you lose. Great first game jam entry though!

Great art, great music, and a very fun gameplay loop! I like that it wasn't high score based: the challenge to pass 30 seconds kept me playing a lot longer than if I were just trying to beat my own score.

Super fun, I agree with above that the 30 second time goal was a good idea for a jam game! Love all the art. Great job!

Couldn't beat it. I got really close and the time left was less than a second but I just couldn't. Having a win condition rather than a high-score endless runner-type system definitely kept me playing for a bit longer. But alas, I couldn't beat it lol. Fun little game.

I like it! Maybe it would be cool if you could lead the witch into hitting the jack-o-lantern and that makes her slow down a bit if you know what I mean. That way if you're skilled enough you could avoid it but it would still hit her behind you and slow her down a bit. Cool game overall! Nice visuals and music!

I love this game, especially at this time of the year. The little flappy tail of the ghost is really cute. Also, nice choice of music. It suits the Halloween vibe and the speed chasing theme.

Really liked this game, such simple but such addictive.I didn't got it on the first try but after 2-3 tries I escaped The Witch.Sounds and grpichs are cool,and i really like that after on the timer remain 10 seconds the game gets significantly harder but not imposible. The game is really cool, hope I could see more of it. Good luck

Simple but very challenging. The closest I got was 1.4 seconds. After that I couldn't even get close to that time. Perhaps I'll revisit this game, or have my teammate give it a try. My reflexes ain't that good. Anyway, there is something addictive about this game.

Nice work! Game is scoped well for a game jam. I liked the responsiveness of the controls, losses felt like my fault for sure. I think tweaking the speed that you lose space and the importance of having more space would improve the game a bit. Right now I think it's perfectly fine to just dodge ghosts and ignore candy once it gets too fast. But I don't think that's a bad thing, the game plays nicely as is. The music and atmosphere were great. Good game!
