They Came in the Night by kakuremino
A game where you play as a captured monster. The goal is to learn some human language and escape your captors. To play (Windows) download the zip-file, unzip in desired location, and run game.exe. If you are not running Windows, the game needs Ruby 1.9.3 and some recent version of the Gosu gem.
The game was made using Ruby with Gosu. Ocra was used to create the executable. Gimp and Paint for graphics. Audacity and MilkyTracker for sound.
Tips:
If you are stuck, compare correctly guessed words with their garbled counterparts.
Controls: Mouse, enter to advance some messages, arrow keys (up/down) to jump backwards and forwards in time.

I didn't finish it though, having to wait for a whole minute for each word got tedious pretty quickly. :/
TackoramaLtd: Packaging up Ruby applications for non-Windows systems has been problematic, though I might look again for a solution.
Waterman7: No need to wait to find words, the once a minute ability is simply there to help if you are stuck. It it is possible to figure out words without using it.
This is a great way to tell the story. Having to decypher all the things being said gets you quite hooked to the story.
