Risto goes around the world by Katajisto

[raw]
made by Katajisto for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

Your task is to help Risto find their way through the archipelago of Risto's homeworld.

But don't worry! Risto is an excellent swimmer and they can also raise and lower the ocean's surface.

Risto also holds the world record for the fastest time to swim around the world.

This is our first game jam and the game is built on a custom rust engine.

I liked the graphics and the puzzle mechanics, but I was a bit lost on what to do after the first apparition of the Q button action.

I absolutely love the concept, visuals, and the core mechanic! One suggestion: it took me a minute to figure out what I was supposed to do, so a little more tutorialization might be benefitial.

Took a little while to get the hang of it, but once I did it was a blast!

wow, this was really cool once i got used to the expand and collapse functionality! Great job, very fun!

cool that you made it in a custom rust engine, props to the true coders out there! I've done things in a custom [crystal](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/risto-goes-around-the-world) framework wrapping around SFML in the past, this time I went for Godot 4

This was phenomenal to play!
The progression of the levels felt smooth enough that I had to think, but didn't find myself completely stuck.
The art is charming and the short tune between levels brings a peaceful vibe to the whole experience.
Fantastic job!

Lovely mood playing this game! The audio chime for completing a level feels really good. And the character is very cute

This is very well looking game with interesting puzzles. But some instructions for my smooth brain would be great, even in the game description, took me a while to figure out. It's always nice to see custom engines, Rust is such an interesting language which I would like to pick some day. :)

Technically very well done Ilike how each box moves in the world, took me a while to figure out what I needed to do but a very well made puzzle game, the right amount of difficulty.

I enjoyed the game and enjoy the take on the theme and that limited space is actual mechanic. It look me a little time to understand how it works but once I did the game got me puzzling hard to figure out how to reach the next point.

Incredibly inventive, don't think I've ever seen a mechanic quite like this in a game before. Was constantly anticipating a huge difficulty spike as there was much to think about with it!
