Casual Movers by Tristian Tee

[raw]
made by Tristian Tee for Ludum Dare 54 (COMPO)

You finally opened up that item transportation business you always wanted to. Too bad you never learnt to tie things down. Turns out people don't like paying for damaged goods. Try to not to go bankrupt as you stack your way to a fortune.

Playable on itch.io in browser on any non-mobile device: https://tristian-tee.itch.io/casual-movers

GAMEPLAY: - Purchase goods to transport using money. - Stack those goods in the truck. - The truck will then travel to the destination but the driver is terrible. - Receive money based on how intact the items are at the destination. - Repeat

CONTROLS - Left mouse button for everything: click to buy, click to place, click on buttons to advance, click of the mute in the bottom right corner to turn off the music.

An interesting concept. It's fun seeing how badly the driver drives, ruining everything you paid for in fantastical ways.
I did keep running into technical issues which soured the experience (no restart option if you run out of money, too many items means the next button gets covered, no consistency on damage values, sometimes better packed truck would get less money, etc)

Yup. Bought too many chairs to witness the havoc and the payout screen won't let me progress to the next level. It's fun to watch though.

Quite an ambitious project for the compo! Seeing your carefully stacked wares flying around after the road bump is fun. I had the same issues as mentioned above. At first, I only placed a car, and it got totaled in the transportation process. In the next try, I stacked furniture, and some survived, but I was not able to start the next trip because the button was hidden behind the UI. Fixing the obvious technical issues and gaining more control over the randomness could make it a fun little experience :)

Quite a nice game. Watching stuff fly around during transport was a lot of fun. Kind of push player toward, how much I can put there :D Well done!

I had to drop everything and fix stuff at my day job. I really regret not being be able to fix the bugs and more importantly rate other games. I'll have to consider taking more time off next time.
