Island Mushroom Rescue by Pe7e
Island Mushroom Rescue - A Mycologist Adventure
Did you know that saltwater and beaches aren't the ideal environment for sentient mushrooms? It's best to help them off the island before the water level rises too far.
Gameplay
Place mushroom houses that gather resources while managing the need for housing and food for the spores. Gather enough resources to escape the island as the water level rises.

Not much depth as is, but there is potential for more.
I wish there was a way to delete mushrooms near the end since you usually get stuck waiting for water to delete them for you so you can get the raft.
I liked the speed factor so you had to move quickly, but didnt find any consequences for just putting heaps of shrooms down.
Good submission, nice job!
Overall relaxing and smooth experience. Simple music is fitting. Well done giving the timeconstraint.

@powerofsin, I thought about creating a mushroom that deletes other mushrooms, but it didn't make the deadline.
@haydads, @mdotedot, and @tal28, I've never tried this type of game before, but it's challenging to explain everything to the player. It either needs to be finely tuned to be intuitive or require a lot of UI.
@thenerdster, thanks!
One thing was the speed of the game. More relaxed speed would help to show what different mushrooms did and start ramping up the speed when player has started to fill the island and limited space would force to think what can be done to survive. More of balancing issue then gameplay issue.
@denvil That's a good idea. Having a slower tick timer in the beginning and then going faster.
I think I ran into a bug because the water no longer rises and I can no longer build anything. afterwards I didn't completely understand why the mushrooms but the theme is
edit: also green mushrooms should have been actual houses, it would have made more sense :)
The 3D graphics are impressive for a compo entry.
Also, the web version of the game maintained a good frame rate.
The controls are slightly awkward due to the lack of a building grid, but that could be just my preference.
The only complaint I have is a jarring toilet flush sound that happens every time the water comes closer. xD
I usually use sfxr/bfxr to create sfx, but it's limited in what it can do.
It only works well for retro-style 16-bit audio feel.
It also mostly limited to beeps and bops that are OK for futuristic games, but ain't good for pretty much anything else.
@bisnesspirate Thanks for trying out the game. Yes, different sizes makes a lot of sense. Would make the game more interesting.
Other than that, solid entry.
