The Deliverer

You are a hardworking delivery driver for an obscure multinational, sadly the inevitable zombie apocalypse has arrived. Its time to grab your trusty crowbar and deliver those poor survivors from the hands of the zombies.

3 handmade levels of low resolution twin stick pixel action

Controls

Mouse/Keyboard

WASD or arrow keys to move and mouse to aim, left click to use your weapon and right click to dash

Gamepad

Left stick to move, Right stick to aim, Right Trigger to use weapon, Left Trigger to dash

Personally I find it more fun with gamepad, but should be fine either way

Updates

  • Added a webgl build on itch io, seems to work just fine - no actual game changes.

Cool game! I like the simple graphics and gameplay, it's fun to manipulate enemy movement to get them all once. It's simple and effective, good work!

That was fun! Level 3 took me several tries to beat but the game never felt unfair. Just nitpicking but maybe you could have made it so you need to go back to the exit as it felt a bit abrupt ending the level right when saving the last survivor.

@jebouin thanks. funnily enough i originally had it set up so you had to go to the exit at the end to fit the 'rescue' concept, but changed it at the last minute because I thought players might not understand what they had to do, or just find the backtracking boring. maybe should have left it in. hey ho, maybe I'll put it back post jam.

Solid game. When I got the pistol I really wanted to switch back to the crowbar. The controls, graphics, and music are all great. Some of the sound effects could have used a bit of distortion to match the 8-bit feel of the rest of the game.

Here's my playthrough (I failed setting up obs on this one so it's cropped a bit weird)

I finished the level the same time as I died and couldn't click any of the screens

This was nice. The gameplay is solid with just the right amount of challenge. The enemy types are easily distinguished.

Cool game! One issue I had personally is with the reticle, I found it to be very obtrusive when using mouse and keyboard, specifically with the crowbar. Otherwise it was pretty good!

@bangkerpow thanks for playing and making the effort to record it, it was a lot of fun to watch someone else play. I liked your early tactic of just trying to run around all the zombies, it never crossed my mind that players would try that. @meptllc sounds like a bug, sorry about that :(

Fun gameplay loop! Would have loved to see some more power ups, but overall it was fun to shoot and dash around mobs of zombies. Great job!

Classic gameplay, but fun ! The crosshair is a bit big and might hide the enemies sometimes. Good job

A fun game. Kept getting beat on the second level though. Maybe I just need to keep trying.

Graphics are appealing and the music is upbeat and fits the gameplay. It was fun getting new weapons and rescuing the damsel in distress. Not sure how it fits the theme, aside from the brief explanation, however. Even so, a solid entry. Nice work.

I had a lot of fun playing this. I did find that for most enemies it was easy to deal with them is slowly back up and use the default weapon, maybe increasing the shooting zombies shot speed might help. Regardless, great job!

This is a solid game, my only critique is that it doesn't have much to do with "delivery". All that "deliver those poor survivors from the hands of the zombies" is a bit of a stretch imo.

Cool game! The sleeping zombies are a fun idea. The third level took me a few tries, but I got through it and it was a lot of fun. :)

I think this was a very solid implementation of the twin stick shooter genre. I liked how the gameplay changed quite a lot when you switch from the crowbar to the gun. For the one you need to be dangerously close to the zombies, whereas for the gun you want to try to stay away. This also matched the amount of health you had, which worked very nicely I think. At the beginning you have a lot of health, so it is okay to risk coming close with the crowbar, whereas later when you find the gun you have less health, therefore it is better to stay away and shoot from afar :)

Some levels I struggled because I could not find a gun, which meant I lost a lot of life to all the zombies being so upclose. I also think some more game feel could help, such as screenshakes or more satisfying shooting particles, stuff like that.

All in all really solid submisison though! very nicely done :D

That was intense! Got killed during level 3 a couple of time but once I figured out how much of a priority getting a gun needs to be, I managed to beat it and got my revenge on all the zombies! The uzi/machine gun was a nice help too. Just mowing them down!
Felt super good to play, it felt very satisfying to mow down zombies. I also felt there was a nice rhythm to it, both with the crowbar and the gun, it felt like a careful dance. The different varieties of zombies helped shake things up, those were great.
Very well-designed game, great job!

Fun little twin-stick shooter. I enjoyed the difficulty of destroying the spawners.

It was hard to tell where I was aiming since there is no reticle for exactly what direction the bullets will come out. I ended up playing really slowly because I couldn't reliably hit enemies when I needed to. (I used gamepad controls.)

I also didn't use the dash at all. I only found out I had it in level 3 and still didn't find a use for it afterwards.

Animations are great in this! I wish the dash was a little more useful. Overall it felt quite nicely balanced though, I liked how many different zombie types there were with different strengths and weaknesses!
