Bocks & Co. by AshDuong

[raw]
made by AshDuong for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

Bocks & Co. is a game about redrawing fictional company logos, poorly!

You work at a company that creates custom packaging for other businesses. But unfortunately, your delivery ship got stuck in a canal and will not get to its destination in time. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do now is to take up a crayon and redraw the box art as well as possible, in hopes of appeasing your clients.

Love the peaceful music! Had a good time playing this on a touch screen.

The visual design and polish is amazing! Such a creative concept! Reminded me of the Mario Party mini games!

Great job! I love the way the little guy moves his arm to match your drawing :o

Ah this is great! A few of the logos with large areas to fill were a little tough though. Best feature is definitely the (my?) jiggly arm - it's so good!

I love how creative you were with the theme. You were able to tell a bit of a story and keep the gameplay fun really well. The controls were really well thought out as well. Overall really great!

What a cute silly game! I feel like the timings were a bit too unforgiving, even in "Fine" mode I struggled at first to get the logos done in time, but after some tries I got a little better. Definitely a super funny experience, though! I played it with a drawing tablet which made it even more immersive!

What a nice game, very cute idea and great execution! I just really wished I had a touch screen, playing it with a trackball is just horrible :D The logo designs are actually pretty cool too

this feels really close to a full game, something you could see in an app store. the Art, Music and the gameplay matches, nice to include different difficulty levels, maybe a bigger pen could be nice, but I can also see that it could hurt the game.

Feels very complete and realized, all it needs is more logos to draw :)

I like the graphics, the mechanics are very clean, the music is pleasant and suitable, and I've never played a drawing game before so at least for me this feels very novel! Personally I find it very difficult to be precise with a mouse, I imagine this game would feel great on a drawing tablet or even on a mobile device with a stylus. Great entry!

What a great entry! Loved it. Me and my girlfriend took turns trying to draw and cheered each other on.
I think the best fun I had from pure gameplay this Ludum Dare. Love the little guy drawing in the background.
I wish there was a bigger brush though, there is no need to switch sizes right now.
My wacom never saw this much action :D

Oh wow, really great job! Very polished. I love that the hand is moving relatively to the mouse on the box. The flat art style looks great and the music and sounds fit really nicely. Good job!

This fits the theme so nicely. I love the book titles and your creative interpretations for how to visually represent them. Well done!

Super cute! I love the logos! Mine didn't look as good LOL
Would be really fun to see as a party game. I could even imagine it as a Jackbox-style thing. Very nice design work throughout. Great work!

Damn I love the logos, they're all so cute and funny! Though I really really wish that the 'breezy' mode was significantly longer, or better still, endless until I hit submit. Whilst I totally get that your vision of the game was the stress, I was really enjoying just drawing these silly little logos and didn't like getting interrupted by the timer expiring. I found even the 35 second mode to be very stressful, especially on big logos like the steak hands that needed filling in. Perhaps a fill bucket could've helped here. I also had difficulty identifying what colour goes where. Like I could often see the breaks, like a different colour goes here vs there, but with how transparent it was, it was difficult to determine exactly which colour to use. I think it would be helpful if there was a reference sheet that had no transparency, or maybe you could show over the top of the colour the number that corresponds to that colour.

Still though, very neat game, it was fun playing it a few times to see all of the logos! It took me a few tries to beat breezy, and I could just barely manage fine but don't think I'm fast enough for any of the others. With the game rating me on the quality of my drawings, I really wanted to take my time, so it took a few runs to break that preconceived notion. But once that was broken, I did enjoy the speed. Lovely game

Fantastic game!! I had a hard time at first determining what colors went where due to the translucency, but once I figured that out it was a lot of fun. Especially when I got my drawing tablet out instead of the mouse haha. Really love the cohesive design, and the music/SFX were excellent. Great job!
