This is my first time building a platformer, including coding my own character controller.

@beebster-games There is indeed only one level - about 5-10 minutes of playtime.
I played your game just now and like others have said the jumps are perhaps a little unforgiving but youve made something really nice here and you should be proud of it!
I chose to make the left/right movement instant, without any build-up, for the crispest possible controls. You push a button, you move instantly at max speed. You let go, you stop. Full control, full precision. However, given your feedback, perhaps a bit of acceleration will feel better. I will experiment with this in my next platformer game. Thanks.
Overall solid work and really fun to play.
I wish the level didn't reset after dying, getting back from the key was often harder than getting to it. I found a little bug: sometimes after respawn you die again immediately.
Anyway, a great retro platformer with nice graphics and a nice soundtrack.
