Devour is a short game about, well, eating people! Press the "Help" button before you press play, you'll need it.
Extra Help: Some people are going to get by. That's what makes it tougher. Only a few frames of the eating animation can actually eat the people. If you absolutely need to, you can eat a sick guy or two to refill your hunger.
Even after reading Help, I don't understand how eating works. First, I thought pressing Z would be enough, but even while holding Z, some people get by.
Very difficult to get the timing down but I eventually got it. Had some fun playing, also I liked the graphics, they were pretty creepy!
Your health should either be integers or at least displayed to the user as an integer (or an image if you want to get fancy). Was the amount of health dropped for each sick human random?
I haven't manage to eat a single person. Don't put this sentence outside its context. Great mood, creepy monster but not so dangerous as he can even grab a kid...
Very hard to get the timing right, maybe a little more leeway on the start would have been helpful. The light falloff also was a bit distracting since it also affected the GUI, took me a few attempts to notice the timer ticking down.
Suggestion: Next time please don't map the action to Z, on my German keyboard Y and Z are switched. Q or E would have worked jsut fine. or space. or Ctrl. Or Shift ;)
Hi, its me from the uheartbeast stream. I saw you played my game so I decided to play yours. I like the game, great mood, but the timing was very hard to get right. Also, try putting it in a zip or something. Not everyone as a program to open .rar and I had to switch computers. Great game though! Graphics were creepy. :)
You should state that on mouth close = eating, not on mouth open. took me a while to figure that out, as it doesnt really have any room for error. Other than that, its a solid concept, but i think implementing a necessity for movement would add some interest into the game (i.e. chasing the kids instead of them running into you).
