Fatal Morgana by amirblum

[raw]
made by amirblum for Ludum Dare 58 (COMPO)

You must reach the next oasis without running out of water. Collect water from desert fauna by clicking on them as they pass by.

It was my first time using Godot and doing a whole jam including art by myself :) Music from OpenGameArt (Night In The Desert by Tausdei) so I'm opting out of audio.

Enjoy!

The background music was extremely good, loved it.

nice graphics, really cool music, the mood is really there. But can we really reach the next oasis, I was clicking as fast as possible on the elements that appeared but did not reach far...

Ok, it is really RNG-based, my third run was plentiful !

Some cool ideas with the aesthetics. It was pretty consistent in that regard.

enjoyed the music, not what I was expecting gameplay wise.

Nice vibes! It was a bit easy, would've loved to may be be able to control the the person/camel as well, maybe have some obstacles along the way, etc

From the other comments I got that it is rng-based, but for me personally it went too easy. Apart from that it is a good first time entry! I can speak from experience when I say that the next times using Godot will get way better!

Google Dinosaur be like, I think something else is needed in the gameplay so that it doesn't play the same way, but it's not bad.

RNG destroyed me on my first playthrough. The second one was way easier.
I feel like the randomness need some tweaking to avoid getting from one extreme to the other. I love the graphics, and the music is great! It's a cool idea.

The silhouettes look really nice and I love the color palette you chose. On my first play through I ran out of water cause the trees weren't spawning fast enough, but it worked out on the second one. Nice interpretation of the theme :)

Nice game, would benefit from a bit more complexity in gameplay and a sense of progress (like the oasis appearing in the background).

I don't know if it was intentional to be able to click on the overlap of several plant silhouettes to consume both of them, but it made for a nice micro-tactical twist.

Great color choice! Also it's nice that it has an ending, it made the experience "complete" for me.

I though you will try to trick us when we are about to reach the oasis, as you can consume multiple trees, though if you waste the water by consuming it when you don't need it, you wouldn't be able to reach the oasis, but aparently is rng based, I got all the water I needed and more. nice graphics and music

Way too fun for what it is ^^ the music choice and the speed of depletion for your water to make you want to constantly destroy the local flora (not fauna, that would have been weird...).

Though most of the game mood and fun relies on that external music asset, which is not something you do in compo... so you should have selected JAM, but it's not a major gripe ... still well done !

Really nice game. Music really tied it together, along with the graphics. Really solid entry!
