Can't express how much I love this. The intro cinematic and the voices are so cute. I wish there was Controller support, then I would actually really enjoy playing it ❤️‍🩹

Excellent sound design, but unfortunately the game slowed down a lot In my macbook

The atmosphere of the game is very cool, and I was captivated from the first minute!

The graphics, audio, and everything else are top-notch.

It's a good and high-quality game, and I can't believe it was made in just 3 days, but if it really was, then it's amazing!

From an aesthetic standpoint, this game takes the cake! Such a nice vibe and fun style. Me and my buddy were dying at the intro monologue. This game packs a ton of charm into a nice simple game loop of collecting and rallying bugs to safety.

Loved this one. You guys nailed the aesthetic and the sound design is great. Driving around feels super fun and it's well polished. Awesome work!

I was loving the graphics from the start, I was also very positive surprised by how well the physics worked. Bouncy shrooms, slowing down mud pools, ramps. Some bug deaths I'd say were heavily exaggerated and some felt very random, because I did not bump into anything.

Yet very polished and well rounded game. Great!

I know you said we both made bug games, but you [and your team] made the REAL bug game (did that bug call me a 'mother bugger' haha?) As others have said the driving felt good, very high quality over all, and I love the visuals. Not much to critique here other than the web version is a little jank, but that's to be expected. Incredible effort all around!

Wow...I'm really impressed by the quality of this for how short of a jam this was. A fully voiced opening cinematic is quite a rare sight for a jam game, haha! Driving in this also struck a great balance between fun and funny; losing a bunch of bugs because I tipped over was equal parts devastating and hilarious. Working in the "on the hour" clock bells for the music was also great. Excellent entry! Easily my favorite one so far.

I should not be trusted with saving the species. This is super fun and on-theme, and a really high quality product for the time you to make it. Jaw dropped the first time I realized I was squashing my friends with my absurdly bad driving. Great job!

I was blown away by the cutscene; that was hecking awesome! The mood and overall style is so cohesive and the bug's voices bring it all together. I felt like I was playing Rocket League for a second there! Great job!

The bgm is just as lovely as the graphics! This is one of my favorite styles in 3D games. Driving the vehicle feels very smooth!

Wow, this game needs more attention. I was laughing so hard during the intro, and I lost it completely when my passengers started talking. Once I managed to knock out a few of them, I was in tears.

Fantastic visual style, voice acting, soundtrack, humor and overall execution. Great game.

Wow, an amazing amount of audio, graphical, and programming work done here for a jam! I loved particularly loved the little voice clips when you picked up the bugs as well as the look and feel of the game. I'm also very grateful for the forgiving truck physics or else I would have been upside down quite a lot.

Great entry!

Voice acting goes incredibly hard and the gameplay is so satisfying (even knocking the bugs out of the car is strangely satisfying :sob: )

Absolutely fantastic, I wish the web build didn't lag at start but I appreciate you notifying it gets better in the description so I kept playing!

Fantastic art. Fantastic vehicle movement. Best sound design I've come across this jam so far, voice actors did fantastic! Loved the game, amazing submission!

Really cool applied game about importance of seatbelts.
Really funny physics and mood. The driving is nicely done, in my experience its pretty hard to get nice. Would have liked to have boost also work on reverse. Really nice cinematic start :D.

Damn, my truck gets stuck all the time and it's frustrating to drive! Maybe this was intentional though, hmm...

I had some performance issues on a GTX 1650, although it was probably using my integrated UHD 630 due to WebGL2 limitations. Not much we can do about that for the web platform until WebGPU has matured.

The graphics are really cool, I also liked the voice acting on the cutscene, and is it me or did one bug just blurt out "I have no parents" on pickup O.o?

Congrats!

The game is very rich in character, I love the voice over! I am the bug driver.

Oct 08th · 19:47 UTC
@andriybyelikov Unfortunately there are some places in the map where the truck can get stuck, sorry about that.
Usually the stutters disappear after at most 30 seconds, even on my laptop with an iGPU. Or was the framerate constantly low for you?
LDJam user 374028
Oct 08th · 20:00 UTC
@timo5034 It wasn't that terrible, the stutters happened just sometimes. I have a 6 year old laptop which may be worse than a Steam Deck, which probably has thermal throttling problems, running on a way higher resolution than intended, on Wayland, on an NVIDIA PRIME system. So due to these combinations I'd say that my system isn't really the best baseline.

As someone who has made similar similar car physics before, I totally understand the fun of things being thrown out of the trunk. The voice acting really sells the game for me.

Hahahaha this is so good! The intro and the title of the game have got to be a reference to the movie "Taxi Driver" right? Loved the lil audio quips of the bugs. You guys did a great job!
michlau
Oct 09th · 13:31 UTC
@re-markable im not sure about the taxi driver reference but the intro was directly inspired by batman 2022 and just got weirder and weirder closer to the deadline hahaha

Hehe, such a fun game and relatable premise :) What a cool style also! Fancy graphics, very nice sound atmosphere (especially the thankful bugs, complimenting on my car :D) and the fun car controls. Well, there was one accident, where I might have lost a whole truckload full of friendly bugs, who might or might not have been yeeted off of my truck, as I boosted myself into a surprisingly springy mushroom :D Hilarious moment. Great entry, good job! :)

I can say that this is by far my favorite game. The character design on the cover is particularly excellent. You can tell the personality of each character at a glance, and they are all extremely adorable. I like the red character the most, it's so cute!!
The gameplay is also very innovative. The opening monologue is very immersive. However, the movement method is somewhat counter-intuitive. But I got used to it. The graphics can be a bit laggy when playing, and I hope it can be further optimized! I really love this game so much. The color scheme of the graphics looks very harmonious and comfortable, and the music is also very pleasant to listen to. I will give this game a full 5-star rating. You did an excellent job!
Finally, I can't help but express my admiration for the character design. If possible, I would love to play a more smooth and complete version.

@ciphereo omg that's so sweet!! im so happy you like the characters, it was a bit of a challenge at first bc i dont like bugs :DDD you can also download the game and that runs much smoother! thank you so much <333

The opening was pretty funny! I guess he drives . Also amazed with the graphics and how good it felt driving that truck! That was really good! Sometimes the bugs just exploded, even with the truck stopped, that felt a bit unfair, but it could be I was just hoarding way too many :grimacing:. Awesome entry! Congrats

Wow this is an incredible entry. The cutscene at the start, the dialogue and humour, the artstyle. The bug splatter. It's all great and far exceeding my expectations for a jam game. I did experience some stuttering on the embedded build but it ran perfectly on itch.io. So It might be worth removing the embedded version so everyone can experience it the way it was meant to be played.

Amazing! It's all so good! The intro was incredible  The graphics are beautiful, the music is great.

But the voice acting it what really does it! There are so many lines and they are all so good!

You should be very proud of this game.

Awesome game!! It's clear you put a lot of work into the vibe - the art style, funny voice-acted quotes, the intro cinematic - it's all very well executed, and quite impressive to pull off in such a short time. Like some others have said, driving from a top-down perspective can be confusing and I found it hard to get used to, but it was still quite fun :)

@mateusboga Thanks so much for playing and streaming it! It was very fun watching you figure out the game :)
I was the one to optimize the web export and unfortunately the game ran absolutely fine on my PC, even in the browser. I didn't realize the lag was THAT bad on other peoples PCs.

@timo5034 I did some tests and I'm pretty sure me streaming with OBS while playing was causing most of the lag, just so you know.

Unfortunately, my driving skills are terrible. Although I was loaded with lots of little items, I still hit a mushroom in the end — I swear to you I will save more next time.

The style at the beginning is great! I really like the overall pixelated rendering! The only drawback is that it's a bit too laggy TAT

A little hard to control but such a fun little idea. Really nice introduction and so many voice lines! And I can't help but love the dithering. Good stuff!

@nondev Thanks, it's the same dithering pattern games on PS1 used. If you're interested in that maybe you wanna give "Why Did PS1 Games Look Like That?" from Acerola on YouTube a watch.

S-tier intro cinematic lmfao

Most of my patrons end up as paint on the road but I drive extra careful for the ones with endearing voicelines

The audio layering was very well made, probably the best in terms of BG-music this jam that I've come across. The collecting seemed a bit too light as I probably killed more than saved as they kept flying off the back. Graphics were all very well made all the way from the level to the UI. Didn't even know there was a drift until finishing playing, didn't seem to make that much of a different in gameplay, but nice to have regardless.

Lol, didn't think being a bug driver is so hard! That storytelling is something :D
Cool stylish game. Gameplay is hard just enough, I love their comments. Sad though that they do die horribly while driving is not easy and accident happen. Also, nice visual effects!

Very nice game. It's giving me PS1 era. I love it. Driving and keeping the bugs alive is a battle. But one I must undertake as a bug driver. Lol. Very nice. Very nice. Would love to play this game with a controller!!!
Timo5034
Oct 13th · 13:16 UTC
@frau-blut-kranz Thanks! You can actually play with controller, only the menu doesn't work with a controller. The controls are:

| Action | Mapping |
| ---------- | ------------------------ |
| Steer | Left Stick |
| Accelerate | Right Trigger |
| Decelerate | Left Trigger |
| Boost | A (Xbox) / X (Sony) |
| Magnet | X (Xbox) / Square (Sony) |
| Drift | B (Xbox) / Circle (Sony) |

Most polished game I've played yet ! I had to change my computer to play it though haha, I guess it comes from the post process.
Good visuals, adorable characters. The audio is very nice as well I loved the intro and wanted more voice acting during gameplay ! Physics are very good as well love the micromachine feeling. Was stuck for a while between mushrooms, the sound design made me laugh so it's all good xD. Good job !

You have the gall to give me a rocket car and task me with driving carefully! That was pretty good, but also pretty frustrating, but also it looked pretty cool and when they died they god damn explode and shout crazy things. Good job!

Whooaa this game has absolutely superb voice acting and music!
I really love the overall style, and this shader just blows my mind! As for drawbacks, I can say that on my laptop the game was a bit laggy at the very beginning, but it stopped after a while. Excellent work, guys!

It's amazing you guys made this game in 72 hours! The intro cinematic really puts you into the atmosphere. Had a lot of fun driving the truck. At some point I was able to get the truck to fly upwards which was so unexpected that it was funny. Great job!

This was an impressive game to put together in a single weekend! I love the aesthetic and the driving mechanics of the car. I had a lot of fun just drifting around and seeing how long I could stay airborne lol. It took me a while to understand I needed to take the bugs back to the garage as I was wondering why they were dying after a while haha. And I think the performance issues were mentioned already, the web build was completely unplayable to me but it was able to run pretty well natively. Great job!

Apr 20th · 18:59 UTC
Why is this game lagging? 😢
Timo5034
Apr 21st · 00:07 UTC
@itero-proto It's becauss Godots WebGL Support is pretty lackluster, especially with Particles, which we use a lot. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it, but couldn't find a workaround :/ You can try the Windows build though, it runs fine.
