The Elegant Fraud by AxolotlUwU

[raw]
made by AxolotlUwU for Ludum Dare 58 (JAM)

England, 1920. A journalist arrives at an elegant soirée in the manor of a renowned collector, pursuing an investigation of his own and hoping to uncover sensational news. Yet the evening takes an unexpected turn: upon arrival, the collector announces that his wife’s precious earrings have gone missing - and until they are found, the doors will remain locked. The journalist volunteers to assist in the search, though behind this official task lies a hidden motive. As he questions guests and servants alike, he begins to unravel their secrets - drawing ever closer to a truth far more significant than the missing jewels.

Great cardboard cartoon style! The visuals are so delicate and rich! I love it!

While playing, I got stuck in the storyline on the third floor and wasn't sure how to proceed. I talked to everyone, but I couldn't pick up the earring.

Also, I noticed that the tables can be stepped on, not sure if that's a bug.

*PS: I found the Easter eggs of the little penguin and Silksong, and that was so fun ww

I really like the cardboard art style, and the detective story is a great idea. I did accidentally skip a few dialogues because pressing E again skips the entire dialogue, and, like in classic point-and-click adventures, I was clicking through every object to find what I needed to collect next. It reminded me of the good old days. Good game!
