Story

Hell is not just fire and the gnashing of chains. It is a giant, soulless corporation where souls are currency and contracts are law. You are one of many—a demon-for-hire, a "debt collection specialist." Your new task seems routine: find a mortal named Magnus Vanderbilt, whose time is up, and deliver his soul to the Department of Arrears.

Magnus was a titan of industry, a genius of commerce who sold his soul for immense wealth and power. But when the bill came due, he used his fortune to disappear. Your mission is to track him down.

Notes

The music is composed by me. The character voices are mine. Please rate the audio based on these two factors only. All other sounds are taken from free assets. Thank you for your understanding!

Fun game! The enemies were a bit slow to kill (many hits) but given the length of the game it made sense. The audio work was great, I enjoyed the sound effect and the music (which I assume you made?) was very engaging. Great work!

Was very fun, the only thing that maybe I would give enemies bigger hitboxes? Or maybe I just suck at FPS, I rarely play this genre xd

@winter2277 Thanks for the kind words! Yes, music was the first thing I did. And then I built everything else around the music. As for the second level, I did that last. I didn't have time to place the objects and enemies.

The music is good. The enemies on the map are designed well and polished looking. I really like that style of radar. I great models and animations. I think more time could have been spent on the level.

yo the controls feel excellent! it has [brazillian drug dealer 3](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3191050/BRAZILIAN_DRUG_DEALER_3_I_OPENED_A_PORTAL_TO_HELL_IN_THE_FAVELA_TRYING_TO_REVIVE_MIT_AIA_I_NEED_TO_CLOSE_IT/) vibes

Love how the music and visuals match the gameplay! I just kept dying super fast while it took forever to kill enemies, guess I’m just bad at dodging LOL

@aleksey-the-kid You might be right, I don't always hit them myself. But with attention, you get used to it.

@ciph3rzer0 The models are standard Unity assets. Essentially, the entire game is made up of assets. My input is the music and character speech. I tried to put together something interesting from it, and I hope I succeeded. Yes, the level is a bit underdeveloped; I didn't have time to incorporate many ideas.

@yorze Thank you for playing the game! Well, there are several tactics for completing the mission. You can slowly make your way along the main path, eliminating everyone. You can run straight ahead without firing back, the main thing is to manage to burn at least one obstacle. Or you can be sneaky and go around it.

A short, quick game - very nice to be able to see it all. The music felt very fitting to the overall "demonic" theme and feel from the beginning.

In the first few tries I felt a bit frustrated because I spawned and got basically ganged up by three drones which killed me. Once during flight I made it in front of the turrets. I think some damage upgrades would have been awesome, to embrace the demonic power fantasy.

incredible job! but i could not get bast the first set of drones due to a lot of lag each time i dropped down. But then again all i did was the web version.

@feraligatr Thanks for the game. I had an idea to start with guards. You could run up to them, grab them, burn them like an obstacle, and get a soul from them. The more souls, the more powerful the player would become. But alas, time constraints led to the use of standard assets.

And yes, some players might find this difficult, but I wanted to challenge them. Magnus Vanderbilt will spend billions to build a trap for you. It shouldn't be easy:)

Interesting game the shout at the beginning gave a little jumpscare though. In general although the music and sounds were great, they were a little loud on startup and had to turn it down in my mixer. The enemy projectiles might a little fast, so they are very hard to dodge, especially when you fall down in the beginning. And sometimes the drones were hidden behind the lingering fire particles. Otherwise a cool game and unique take on the topic, hope the feedback is helpfull ^^

@jamesxm @cgraen Thanks for the game!

@cgraen You can't dodge the drones. The best tactic is to keep your distance. Yes, the charges are deliberately designed to last. I thought it was fun when you were shooting at the surrounding area. But moving enemies pose a problem. I wanted to link them to the enemy's collider, but somehow I forgot about it.

Noice!
The default mouse sensitivity feels a bit high, and the attack is a little weak - but overall, it's cool.
Nice short soundtrack too!

Quick snappy fun, if a bit disoreanting. The level did feel very empty tho. A very good effort!

The game is tough, and it's unclear how to properly dodge enemy and turret shots if this is supposed to be a DOOM/Boomer shooter. It's also really missing higher fire damage and the ability to adjust mouse sensitivity. Otherwise, the game is great, great job!

It's a fun game. I liked the combat system, but it felt like there wasn't enough variety in the actions. It all boils down to you firing a shot and immediately retreating behind a wall, only to repeat the cycle later.

THE MUSIC... I did not expect this! In a good way. Loved it.

Being thrown in the middle of enemy area without any cover was a bit too much for me, so I couldn't get through that part (though thank you for the checkpoint, at least I tried it a few times!), but also I'm not a shooter-person, so maybe that's just me.

I didn't expect the music to hit that hard and my volume was almost maxed when the game started :D Cool game! I liked the burning shader effect. I kept dying so fast at the starting spawn point though, might just be my skills. Other than that, great job!

Super cool! I also did two runs, first I did a stealth run using the pathway to the right, the second time, I did a full frontal assault run. Super fun! I found strafing really works well against turrets from far away, streaming their bullets like you would in a bullet hell game. Again, super cool!
I love the rock theme it had going on, with the voice lines and the music. The voice lines in particular are amazing, I love the demon's voice. Setting stuff on fire and firing fireballs is super satisfying, I like how that felt. Very well-done game, great job!

This was bad ass. It's crazy that people can put first person games into web browsers in 72 hours these days. It reminded me a lot of Duke Nuke 'Em and Doom (definitely a really good thing, lol). Great job!

First impressions were mixed, but once I got into the tutorial I had some hope. Then the first level loaded and it turned into a generic point and click magic shooter. The audio was very loud and had to lower my windows audio to 1 to play. Not sure what the bar was supposed to represent as you could spam the magic before the counter was full. This game, alongside at least 10 others, have this weird spinning thing that happens the moment the game starts (Still choose the believe it is a rigidbody that has unconstrained rotation).

Just for future reference, from the rules: "**You’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created, but we ask that you OPT-OUT of the respected voting categories (Graphics, Audio). You can opt-out of a voting category when you submit your game.**" but then you did opt-out of graphics but not audio?

@6knowledge I agree, this might be a slight violation of the rules. But I'm sure people judge me solely by the music and voice acting. Well, as far as I can tell from the comments. I doubt anyone would judge me by the sound of Metal Gear. It was added for fun.

I did most of the sound design myself.
I recorded the guitar, bass, and piano, and also hammered out the drum part on a synthesizer. I recorded the scream at the beginning of the song that tore my throat out. I spent half the first day on the music. I recorded and then added the character lines. I think I deserve a rating. If anyone thinks otherwise, they can give me one star. After all, we're just here for fun.

But thanks for the reminder. I'll think about it next jam.

@greenradiation @jonction @alex-o @tardis2snej @happysealgames I agree. I thought it was simple when I was developing it. But when I tried playing a couple of days later, I only managed to survive on my fourth try.

@korzhik Yes, there really is a lack of variety. I wish I had more time to work on the game, but jam is jam.

@basic-eagles The actual working title of the game was "The soul collector in the sewer collector", but that name didn't suit the game's mood 😁

@edvard Yes, there really wasn't enough time to implement the original idea. I wanted to do something like Doom. Instead of robots, there would be security guards, and we would have to go around with a contract and collect their souls into it.

@ira-baciu Yeah, me too.🔥 That's exactly the feeling I was going for.

@solvenoff Oh, this is a great honor for me. What would you like as a prize? Maybe a hug?🤗

@captaindreamcast And I will hug you too🤗

@xpoho Тебе спасибо, что играл)

Phew, that was tough, but I made it. There are a lot of you here.😵 I hope I didn't forget anyone.

Just in case, you can adjust mouse sensitivity in the menu by pressing the tab key(but it resets when you fall into the pipe)

Well, I liked the game's concept. The music and voice sets a pretty cheerful and fun tempo.

But, alas, the main character dies way too quickly. I couldn't hold out for very long, no matter how hard I tried.
But despite everything, there's something about the concept ;)

By the way, if you enjoy a slightly quirky atmosphere, you might want to check out our game 😛
