Ludum TCG by LittleGamer

[raw]
made by LittleGamer for Ludum Dare 58 (COMPO)

Unpack boosters and sort your new favorites cards !

:warning: HTML VERSION BUG : if the game appears very zoomed out, to the point that you cannot interact with anything :warning: :

1) Reload the page ;

2) Before launching the game, zoom the page (CTRL + mousewheel) ;

3) go back to step one if you don't see the full screen. There should be a "FS" button in the upper left corner.

Controls : - Right click : drag and drop card or boosters. - Left click : open boosters. Click the FS button in the upper left part of the screen to go Fullscreen (strongly advised).

Known problem : the card gets picked from bottom to up. It should be the other way. I don't know what cause this for now.

It's not much but it's something, glad I finished it while being sick.

Past this point, you can see my various edits from when I struggled to get the html to work. Enjoy the rage.

EDIT : ~~I do not know why html embeding is not working ; it's getting late and I got to work tomorrow so I'll try to fix this on monday evening after work. Please note that the game can still be downloaded.~~ EDIT 2 : ~~Currently trying to embed the game.~~ ~~3 : second try. 4 : alright I'm taking a break idk why it keeps not working.~~ 5 : ~~Ok I think I got it.~~ WELL OF COURSE NO I DIDN'T

Trying again on 12/10/2025 : I suspect that I've used the wrong rendering mode on Godot for html, so I'm reuploading the game with a new export. Apart from the change in the rendering mode, nothing in the game has been modified since I posted it.

I myself am something of a Blobous Vampire... Also, I did a frantic tap, do I get my 5 star review in [at least] one category? I know you weren't feeling well and so had less time than you would've liked, but this is strangely compelling. Mostly just reading all the cards made me laugh. I feel like this could be made into a full experience with just a little polish.

@threeli LMAOOOOOO I was turning crazy on this problem the other day. Went here to see if it magically went up, but no. I'll try again this weekend, I got too much work to do this week to play games or fix this.
Still haven't got the time to play your game sadly. I'll let you know when I'll try it !

Thanks for the small game! Opening packs is always satisfying. Great thing that you added sound effects, that's kind of a core part of the experience. :)
I'd have loved to read some of the texts on the cards, but the letters are far too small on my screen and I didn't manage to zoom in. But a fun idea nevertheless, kinda captures the core of the theme - collecting and curating. ^^

@schu @ntimi thanks for playing and giving your indsight on the experience ! I'm glad that you could enjoy it even if it's buggy as hell.

Enjoyed sorting cards, weirdly satisfying, even if somewhat buggy. Feels lacking in polish like feedback (something like cards growing slightly bigger when picked up), though, the sounds really helped add to the experience. Nice to see you were motivated to get this out the door, quite inspiring, good job!

It's the first time I play a game where you have to zoom out the page before actually launching the game haha, but it works !
Very relaxing between two action-packed games, love the sounds it makes when you take the card. Would be cool to have the last card taken above the other and have a grid/magnetism when you put them on the table. Bravo pour la jam !

@faby thanks for playing !
Yeah I don't know why it does this. My last game had problems with the viewport too in html, but it was on a playable ratio when launching. I need to take some time to learn viewports and embed for future jams.
Yeah this sorting problem kinda ruins the whole experience, but well the fact it still feels relaxing proves it's at least a POC. For the grid/magnetism, I didn't have time lmao, but when starting the jam I wanted the player to be able to open a binder with sleeved pages ; I would have made a feature like this for this part.
Merci !

I love the idea of making a TCG! Just struggled with the controls quite a bit :)

@grid96 thanks for the kind comment and for playing in spite of the controls :sunny:

Wow very nice Idea, really good take on the theme. I personally would have liked Cards for past LD themes. Or A Common spell card that says "Bugfix" etc. The potential for meta jokes would have been insane :D

And then Rare Cards like "Bugfix (without introducing two new ones)" or similar!

But I also like your more classical take :)

@ausstein lmao these ideas are nice ! I did some meta jokes on rare and misprint cards but tried to avoid putting too much, I was afraid it would denature the idea.
There are also jokes in the keywords for cards. I've always found that some keywords were elusive in their gameplay mechanics, when they aren't defined on the card, and wanted to play on this (thus some words like "Blobous" or "Clock 3" that just lets you think "wtf is this supposed to do ?").

I'm glad you liked the concept despite the bugs and controls !

@littlegamer I feel in a game Jam like this, where the audience is other game devs, creators etc. You cannot put too many meta jokes. They always land well :) On the other hand if you want to show your game to your friends they might get a bit confused xD

This is a super unique game! Love the concept! It's satisfying to open the packs and move the cards around. However, I had some trouble reading the text and the cards sometimes got stuck while dragging... but then again the bugs don't take away from the experience too much :-) nice work and thank you for sharing your game!

Great use of the theme here, I love ripping packs. Like others have said I had issues reading the text, but making the game full-screen helped. Good work!
