Premise

You are in a Dungeon full of fantastic loot! But you are not the one looting. You are Günther, the goblin who is running behind his master and tries to catch everything that is carelessly thrown at him. But be careful! Your backpack is not that big, and everything is rattling around in there. Things interact and some items are worth more than others. When you stumble over stuff, you might loose your valuables. Also, you can throw things away that you do not want. Are you the right goblin for the job? Will you hold on to the great goods at all costs? And most importantly: are you better than Garry? Show the world that you are the true Loot Goblin and maybe you live to see another day.

Really fun concept! Losing stuff by getting hit reminded me of sonic games. Oh yeah, and the soundtrack is absolutely top notch.

Sorry, but the game doesn’t work — only the jump button does.

Nice game, I like the concept of the physics items going in an bouncing back out of the backpack. I kept losing everything though since losing one item caused a chain reaction haha xD.

Good soundtrack, funky, stylish art made in a rush that somehow all fits together, and really good bag physics. I dig it! It's a bit confusing, somehow something exploded, and I could swear some items combined into a sword at some point. Well done!

Good idea, the physics in the backpack goes crazy if you get touched by any obstacle and it's easy to lose everything. My scores were pretty bad but it was fun to try to keep my inventory. Good game!

The control doesn't work at all. The items fly into the backpack by themselves. The goblin endured, screams.

This is really fun to play with! So frustrating to loose everything, it makes it very addictive!

The physics based mechanics are very nice! I really liked the chaotic experience!

@melomaner @semenchk it sounds like you both ran into objects on the ground and stumbled. During a stumble you can't control your character. If that was not the case it might be a bug. We would be very happy with more information like the browser you used, etc.

The concept of the game is very fun and I liked the doodles on the wall. The movement felt a bit weird at first, until I understood what was going on

Simple and fun concept, feels like item bounce might be a little high, a single bump would knock everything out. overall very solid game

Got real Trash Panic vibes from this. Really lovely combination of genres and cool gameplay loop!

An interesting idea and concept for gameplay, but maybe I(but judging by the comments, I'm not the only one) have some kind of problem. Of the interaction buttons, only the spacebar works, and a-d-w doesn't work. I checked, but in general these buttons work for me, they only don't work in the game.

Amazing idea and nice execution! I gotta admit though, I really suck at this frantic game  I love the doodles on the wall! Noticed them only halfway through, almost felt like discovering a secret.

Though I really like the song, I don't think it fits the overall mood too well. But that's a matter of taste I guess.

Thank you for making this!

I think the game might be a little bit too punitive! I mean, I just tripped on a nugget, then I jumped, then my TREASURE spilled a little, but then i tripped on MY treasure, and before I knew it, I had no more treasure... That was 10s before the end...
The music is cool, the concept is fun, a little bit rough around the edges but it's a finished game with no bugs, so that's very cool!

Fun game!
Collisions can sometimes be quite frustrating, especially when the item is thrown very low.
But it's a good basis to continue developing!

It was a tough learning curve and I like the alchemistry tricks inside the backpack.

Way harder than I thought it would be lol, feels a little unfair that you can trip on the things falling out of your backpack but maybe I just need to git gud 😂

Oct 08th · 11:07 UTC
Very funny idea! I think it would have been better if the things you don't catch just stay on the floor for a short time. That way, you trip over everything when you run a little further back to catch things or things hit you when you try to jump over them.

Gunthers poor toes! I kept tripping on loot i was trying to catch, spilling some loot, and then tripping on it trying to pick it up lol. I really like the art and physics of the bag and item. It's cool that the physics persists the same in the bag. Charming lil game, nice work!

Really fun game mechanic! Love physics based games.
I did not really find myself organizing the backpack with the mouse though. Everything seemed to fall into place nicely anyways, so I focused more on catching items and evading those on the ground.

I got my magic sword and goodies only to spill them all over the place very dramatically right before the end. I ended up just letting things clatter about in my backpack rather than trying to combine them with how hectic it is. Very cute game!

I had an issue with the controls too, but I found a way to fix it — you need to have your Windows keyboard layout set to ENG. On other layouts, movement doesn’t work, except for jumping.

It also wasn’t immediately clear that items can be combined. I’d suggest showing that in the game at the start — I saw it mentioned in the description, but it would be much clearer if it appeared in-game.

That said, the game really hooked me — it’s fun! I died about seven times before finally crafting the magic sword. Even had two swords… and dropped both of them right before the end :D

@timhugh good to see you here! glad you enjoyed the game :d

@solvenoff thank you for taking the time to figure out a fix! I think the error also only happens in Chrome browser, though I am not sure. Dropping everything right before the end is way too relatable :skull:

Really cool concept, reminds me of Backpack Battles :D Some better indications of what combinations work might have been nice (though I see the appeal of letting the player figure it out). My main suggestion would be to not let the player lose everything that easily (either by jumping, stumbling, or having explosives combine in the bag(?)).

Funny idea that the stuff is bouncing around in the backpack and falls out easily. I ended up with -10 gold though. I'm a clumsy goblin I guess =)

Interesting concept but I think it needs a bit more direction, hard to tell what you are meant to do from the outset. Combinations are cool, and slightly addictive!

A short but sweet jam game, never really used the mouse as there was just too much going on but don't think it really made my experience any different regardless of it. It was kinda funny when your entire backpack got emptied in-front of you and you couldn't do anything but stumble on your ex-items that piled up.

Sorry I'm late to playing your project, today was the first day I could get back on the computer, but I'm here now so let's go!

Firstly, great work, I really like the idea of having to do inventory management in real time while also navigating. I think though, I do agree with @dining-philosopher, it seems really easy for a single loss to become a complete loss. Maybe there could be layers of pack that fill up and then are kind of locked in some way? I use packs a lot and older ones had sections you could tie off at various depths, so perhaps something like that? Overall though this is great work, any plans to keep working on it?

(Edit: forgot to mention I love the artwork!)

Ok, this is a very very good game. As simple as it is at first sight, the elements talk to each other very well and make for cool reactive gameplay. I kept playing it just one more time over and over again. Really congrats for it.

The game indeed is punitive. Took me a while, though, to realize that jumping after stumbling is a very costly mistake. Also, I feel like the writings on the wall are telling me that there is some sort of crafting, but I couldn't activate it.

My main suggestions would be: less punitive on mistakes, shorter level duration.

Awesome game. Will actually play it again. :)

I really liked the music. What a banger of a track for a jam game. Thought the art was nice and coherent.
My one complaint was on the gameplay side. If I dropped some loot it could snowball into loosing everything if it happened on the far left of the screen. This was because you dropped it just in-front of you and hit the next piece dropping more loot.

Other than that was fun and well made. Good job

Okay I think we've found a winner!
I love me physics-based games, and the items jostling around in your packback? -chefs kiss- perfection!
I love that everything flies out if you get hit too! The music was quite a bit louder than the sound effects. Overall, amazing, really!

Oooh, that's a really difficult one for me, and I've played some difficult jam games (as we all did). I can't seem to learn how to damage control, and I seem to have no patience to play in slow mo ^^. One mistake, especially one that pushes you to the edge, and you're done for. This is my best shot after a few tries that were worse than Garry:

I won't be the lootgoblin of the month ^^

Very fun entry, polished, cohesive, great job!

PS: I love the clues on the walls, great idea!
