Chickens Go Home by cagibi
Some chickens have decided to collect as much stuff as possible!
Inspired by Ubisoft's Rabbids Go Home.
I was more tired than usual this weekend, and I encountered some bugs/roadblocks, so that game is quite short and doesn't really have any dangers. Have fun anyway!
Controls
Arrows/WASD: move
Enter/Space: unleash your battle cry upon the objects

Anyway, this was fun! The department store level was the highlight for me, with a bunch of stuff to collect and a mysterious invisible elevator music player. The opening & ending scenes were cute too, although it was a bit hard to read the opening crawl since the text blended in with the chickens & paper in the background. But yeah, overall a short & fun experience!
@frogman thank you! I'm thinking of adding the store's loudspeaker as a collectible, or who knows maybe a power-up.
What a really cute game! I love the animations and the sounds, very funny!
One thing: the game did not load in my browser, so I had to inspect the HTML element and open the link in a new tab. Consider adding the link (https://files.jam.host/embed/$415836/42144/index.html) to the description.
The white text at the start is low contrast over the white chickens, maybe put a semi-transparent background around the text :-)
You really took the theme literally, collecting the twigs! :-D
I liked the booster ramp, nice feature!
At the end, I have to admit, I did not collect things in the third level, I right away "got to de chahpper" like Arnie and was quite amused when it started spinning in its entirety :-D
Along with the music, this made for a pleasing finale ;-)

@awanami I thought I fixed that crash (when you collect more than 1 box in the same frame, tricky to reproduce), I'll see how I can fix it again.
EDIT: done. There was a for loop for updating the stack of stuff, and now when one of the items is missing I pop it and exit the loop.
If I can give one suggestion: the text at the beginning (the starwars one), could have been more dark. As it was a bit unclear to read at times.
Overall, definitely a cute game, well done <3
Fun facts, at first both events were much more boring: I started animating the helicopter blades normally (okay maybe I planned a lot of pitch/yaw but that would be it for the craziness). On stairs, I tried to make them actually climbable, not impossible given that your collider is a sphere, but eh loss of momentum. :P
Great job with sound effects and musical bits . Would be great to see more levels, and some upgrades for the barrow-bike. Utilising more chicken physics, like being able to jump and boost a chicken into the air with some velocity to catch high-up collectibles would be great.

I'll see what I can do for a post-jam version. My "spiritual predecessor" game had one big special item you had to collect each level which is a power-up most of the time.
Though the sub-50 bonanza isn't as surprising as it sounds, there were only 272 rated compo games compared to 800+ 5 years ago. Still, that's nice to see, and now on to the post-jam version (should be released in a few days):
- Add text outline
- Hide item stack when boarding helicopter
- Add a shelf to make it past 300 objects, the 300+ result text couldn't show up :(
- Make market music into a collectible radio which plays a chaotic MIDI balkans-inspired fanfare music when collected (still working on the music)
Whoops, can't edit the Ludum Dare embedded version. guess I'll need to upload it to itch.io or elsewhere!

Thanks again!
