Catlosia by neowhoru

[raw]
made by neowhoru for Ludum Dare 58 (COMPO)

This is a small arcade like game where you are a small cat who obeys his * master cat* . The master cat is a collector who collects all kind of stuff.

But be careful: if you carry too much who will be slower. And if you tried to carry very much you puke all the stuff out.

Your reward ?

A sticker in your collection album.

Goal is to fullfil the album.

* Arrow Keys = Movement*

* SPACEBAR = ActionKey (for talking with the Image on the wall).*

I actually love the aesthetic of this project. The music and off-beat vibe are great. I think it moves a bit slowly for my liking, but overall this is excellent work. Any plans to expand it or make something similar? It's got almost an adventure vibe to it...

I really liked the mechanic of having to periodically give away items to avoid an "overload." And is that... lava right in the apartment?

Anyway, praise the Master Cat!

Me and my 5 year old finished it few times. He wanted to play multiple times - he likes cats :)
Good Job on the game!

A simple and pretty fun little game. The visuals and the music is okay. Could perhaps have used a bit more gameplay, but it's okay for a compo game. Overall an okay little jam game.

Cool game, I like the swallow sound!

This is the weirdest apartment I've seen :P (lava ? why is the kitchen so loooong ??)

Two improvements I've thought about:
- the collisions with the lava are a bit unforgiving, at the beginning I thought it was a bug that my cat was beginning to puke when it was "only" because my ear touched the lava
- when we puke anywhere but in the starting room, it seems like the cat is teleported to its initial position in the game but the camera is not, so it looks like the cat just disappears

Cute game, fits the theme really well. Though i do feel like the game is too slow, espacially when you're holding something, and with only having lava as a hazard, it gets boring pretty fast. But once again the pixel art is nice and the dialogue of the master cat was pretty funny haha

Very interesting game -- I love the portrait of the big cat, I love the cat you play as and how it munches everything to bring to his master. Life is not easy as a little cat.
But the respawning system might be broken in the bottom room?

Cute game and loved the music! I wasn't sure what happened, but the cat didn't seem to respawn when I fell in the lava after going to the room down from the start. Someone else said it might be respawning but not moving the camera with the cat. Would also consider upping the speed, or letting the cat get faster after each delivery.

Oh good to know. i will check later for the bugs hmm. Speed increase is a good idea as a Bonus when you finished something.

The idea of earning stickers to fill your collection album is such a clever and fun goal for this game! I also loved the interaction with the Master Cat's image on the wall to receive your rewards. A truly charming little adventure!

Wow! What a cool game! I would have liked the cat to move a bit faster to make it more dynamic, but still, it’s really fun! Great entry and an awesome game!

hi! I like the little game. Just played it 'till the end. Here's some thoughts:

Talking to the master cat felt a bit off. I think I looked at the top right corner too much, which spoiled the assignment before the master cat could even talk. When I fulfilled the assignment, I hit space and the cat would talk about the previous assignment, etc. Making the kitty puke would reset all items again, was that on purpose? It could be used to cheat I figured (did not do that, so maybe I'm wrong about that)

I think the puking is very accurate. My gosh if we don't feed our cat in stages, it will puke too  It would have been funny if the puke would leave a brown stain on the carpet

@wouter52 thank you for your feedback :) Yeah this is more a small bug as on purpose..i rushed the dialog and quest system a bit.

And haha you are righ about puke: i have 3 cats here and sometimes they puke too often :D The idea with carpet is funny :D

Cute and nice game! As a cat owner, I can say this is just like real life! My only complaint is the controls because the feedback to the player feels a bit laggy and sometimes unresponsive to inputs. But it’s a jam, anyway. Great work!

Aww. Cute cat-type game.

It took me a while to figure out hitting the carpet would trigger a barf - and I have a cat .

Would be cool to have more house to explore, maybe some moving traps / puzzles ( vacuum cleaners , dogs etc. ) to avoid, maybe some tactical pukes ( if you could puke to leave something behind to collect later )
