Controls:

  • Move: W/A/S/D or Arrow Keys
  • Select/Deselect: SPACE
  • Reset: R or ESC

How to Play:

In eelbay, your goal is to manage a changing supply of three colors of eels, and deliver the right eels to the right boats in the right formation.

The eels are sticky- eels that are next to each other fuse into larger eels, and move together. However, if an eel is pushed onto an eel of a different color, it will move it instead of fusing. You can break fused eels this way. Boats come in regularly, delivering new eels, and requesting a certain formation of eels to leave. Deliver as many eels to as many boats as you can in the time limit!

Backstory:

Welcome to eelbay!

The sticky eels of eelBay need your help! They lead busy lives across the ocean, doing a variety of jobs- eelectricians, eelconomists, reel estate agents, you name it!

However, the commute always proves to be a challenge, since they're all so darn sticky! Help deeliver the eels to their 9-to-5s before it's too late!!!

Great working game that requires thinking! Simple, easy to understand and not easy to master first try. Great game!

Such a fun and creative puzzle game! It was really relaxing and the vibe was great. Art is beautiful and the problem solving was really engaging and clever. I never felt stuck or frustrated. Awesome game!

I loved the game even though I struggled in trying to make a single delivery! The graphics and sound are amazing, and the eels are extremely cute. I wish the game was a bit easier (maybe being able to rotate the pieces?), but I adored it! Amazing work

Loved it! Super cute and pretty challenging! Tho I did have a little trouble telling what the bouts wanted sometimes.

Really fun!! I loved every frustrating second! The art was adorable, the music was catchy, it was a blast to play! Just felt like a game that really had 'delivery' theme slapped onto it. Still really enjoyed it, just the theme of delivery didn't really hit the mark  :sailboat:

I liked the gameplay and found the puzzles to be interesting. The main issue I found was that the textures on the eels changed based on their position which looked kind of strange.

Oh man, this game is so clever, and I am so ludicrously bad at it! Just from playing around with the game for a couple of seconds, it was *immediately* intuitively obvious what I'm supposed to do, but I found myself completely unable to do it! I managed to get three ships to sail away, and I consider this to be an absolute win.

Incredible game, it made me flex my brain in ways that my brain absolutely was not ready for, and I had a ton of fun with it! I also really liked the way that you used the eels as a mask over an underlying pattern - It was a really charming effect!

I love the calm puzzle vibe. The art, music, and mechanics were all spot on. I do have to agree that there wasn't a huge tie into the theme of the jam, buuuuuut I think I can give the little cuties (the eels) a pass (they have to get to work after all). Great work!

Alright alright once I finally wrapped my head around how to separate large blobs of guys this game was absolutely in the clear. Such a hugely incredibly Freddy Fish casual vibe after I got my brain screwed on straight. The masking effect on the eels looked GREAT and the sound design for the boats was super nice.

Very clear overall game!

This game is soo cute!! I saw it on LittleDoctorGames' stream, and had to try it out for myself! The puzzle gameplay, audio, and visuals are all just *chef's kiss*. I could definitely see this as a mobile game too. All around great work!!

Wow! What a gem, innovative game, enjoyed solving the delivery puzzles. Aesthetics and music was on point too. My personal opinion, remove timer from the game and let players solve deliveries on their own pace and infinitely. Main FUN and hook of the game is creation of eel shapes so focus on that.

Pros
- visuals and ambient music
- very good puzzle mechanic

Cons
- controls could be polished more, selecting and moving eels were 100% smooth

Very cool puzzle game. I struggled a bit at first until getting the hang of the mechanics but after that it was very intuitive.

The only thing I would add is that the pattern you need to add to the boats gets recognize even if it's down by one line for example. Since you need to go fast it's not always the quickest to match it exactly and end up having to move everything up.
It does make the check for matches a bit more complex to code so I get why it was done like this with the time constraint of a game jam.

Either way amazing job!

You rEELly made all of out that little word in your game description, my dad would be proud of you.

Gamewise: Wonderful idea for a puzzle game and graphically very appealing. I love that the textures move independently from the eels, reminds me of Keepvogel movies from my childhood.

The music fits very well too. Great job, keep it up!

So cute, love this small logical game. Frustrating when eels stick together when it's uninteded.
I did 6 boats on my second try.
Good game!

This was brutal! A very challenging puzzle with cute facade :P Love it!

I wish there was no timer tbh. But I understand it could be infinite otherwise, and that could be a problem.

I love this game! Like others have said, the mechanics are simple but unique and engaging, and it has a fun atmosphere. Based on what others I've tried so far, this one deserves to win.
The one thing I would suggest is that the timer only start with the arrival of the first boat, as it's not fair to the player to take away their time when they literally can't do anything.

Amazing art in this game. The music and sound effects paired with it really set a cozy vibe. I found the puzzles however to be too difficult for me but I understood what I was supposed to do. Maybe add easier levels to teach people good strategies before they make eel soup out of the puzzle like me. Still thoroughly enjoyed it though. Fantastic job!

This is clever and fun and I quite like it.

It is a bit frustrating in a timed game when you have to spend the first few seconds waiting for the first boat to arrive, but i suppose it gives you time to organise your starting eels if necessary.

I think you could also add some tension to the end of the round by adding a ticking clock or some other kind of warning that time is about to run out.

Otherwise, this is a pretty good game.

It's such an appealing beautiful game! It works fine and makes fun to play. I really enjoyed the different designs for the fishes/eels. I couldn't say it otherwhise than: you've nailed it! :>
I could imagine feedback for players would have been nice in the end, I think I saw the time shrinking evenly, a cool thing would be to get extra time whenever a ship has got its stock (reloaded). Therefore one could play to get a score and to challange oneself and there would be a reward: to play as long as one pleases (and is fast enough) unless time runs out ;D
Also a "You got a score of [...], press r to restart" option would be nice
I'm amaized by the management of the size of the game which is acutally small but comes with much input and replay-wishes.
You've very well done :D

edit: oh god guys, I just got the pun, earlier I just thought the colors were google related or so... you are genius...

Loved this game, especially the art and music! The "plaid" effect was so sick. I liked how the mechanics took a little bit of figuring out but once I got it I was able to do pretty well. Such a cute fun game!

Absolutely stellar puzzle game! It seemed very deep and complex, despite its cute aesthetic! I did feel at points, it seemed like the game "punished" me in a way if that makes sense? But overall a really fun experience!
