[raw]
made by Bentosfera for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

Sheepment is my Ludum Dare #53 entry (Theme: Delivery).

Controls:

Move: WASD, Arrow keys

Interact: SPACE

Plant Tree: NUM 1

Make Wood Spikes: NUM 2

Place Wood SPikes: NUM 3

Place Hay: NUM 4

  • Deliver the sheep to the pickup point marked with a yellow arrow;

  • After a successful deliver, a new crate containing a sheep appears;

  • The sheep only moves to grassy terrain;

  • Plant trees to spread the grassy terrain;

  • Harvest grass to get tree seeds and wheat to get hay;

  • You can lure the sheep by placing hay in a grassy terrain;

  • Watch out for the wolf!

NOTE: this is my first game ever, I have no background in programing, game development or art, so the game might look a bit raw, and I know there are a lot of bugs, but I hope you enjoy it!! TitleScreen.PNGHowToPlay.pngBegin Game.pngCrop.pngWolf!.png

The music is great, and the art style works really well. The only thing I had trouble with was getting started, I think an easier first sheep-delivery or an in-game tutorial would go a long way. But nice job!

Hey, it did take a while to understand the gameplay, perhaps a small tutorial or in-game text would have made it clearer. That said, I thought the concept was fun and innovative, and I really liked the art style. Good job!

Nice game idea, and impressive considering this is your first game. I did encounter a few bugs. My first sheep got eaten by the wolf and then nothing happened. There shuold be a "game over" event or a new crate appearing in that event. Also the sheep didn't get picked up on the point, Don't know what I did wrong. Effective graphics though. Well done for a first try :)

Think the game looks really cute. The controls are a bit finicky but once you get the hang of it, it's really fun :)

I'm impressed this was your first game! The mechanics are really well implemented. I actually don't know how you did the implementation of the fances. Which engine did you use? Really liked your game!

That's a very impressive first game. The little economy is working nicely and getting everything setup kept me occupied for quite a while. The auto-tiling is also a nice touch. Well done!

Had some trouble understanding what the various parts were meant to do. It seemed like I could create spiked fences endlessly, but I couldn't figure out what they were meant to do as the wolf went right past them. I did find the graphics and audio charming. GG

Nice little game. I like the cute graphics. There is some bugs I think, we can build as many barrier we want, but they seem useless. Number 4 goes negative. And as long as we don't open the crate the sheep is safe, so we can prepare the grass then open the crate.

Other than that, that's a good first game. I had pleasure harvesting and re-grassing the land.
It certainly need some more challenge but it's a good start.
Great job.

Woah first game! Super impressive, the art and audio is good fun, and the systems are in place, if a bit buggy/hard to identify. I like the setup, nicely done!
