[raw]
made by ScrapMetal for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

Cover_Image.jpg

Fred runs a self-made delivery service with his own truck.

(He's not very good at it though. And his truck kind of sucks).

Use arrow keys or controller to try and make deliveries.

**UPDATE: Added a POST JAM version with a couple bug fixes and on-screen controls for playing on a mobile device.

The concept is fun, but I found that the physics felt very bouncy and it was nearly impossible to get more than 2 items delivered, usually losing half the load at the first bump. If you tuned the physics to be a bit more fair then the game has a decent bit of potential as a novelty, flash style game.

I can't for the life of me get over the first rock without losing half my cargo, but I absolutely love the way this game looks and sounds, and for whatever reason I can't stop trying to get that mattress to its destination! Great job! :)

Really funny and looks cool. I like the handling and driving. Thank you. But too short

this is a fun game with a lot of potential, however as other people said, it's really difficult to carry more than 2 items, since tv and mattress almost always fall of the car. i really liked the art style and parallax effect on the background!

Very cool art, visuals and the game idea! I liked it a lot.

This game is really fun, it can get a little weird with how the items stay in the back of the car but I can live with that. The graphics are really nice and full of character and the sounds are also really nice.

I broke so much stuff that I am certainly getting fired. Really fun game and a great approach to the theme!

Impressive cool pixel art that reminds of me that 2 people sword fighting game with kinda jelly arms and body ... oh I am so bad with names ...

love the bouncing, this would be an awesome game for streamers to play live

Very cool graphics and overall style. Also extremely hard. Those rocks bump really hard :D Great job.

We all know the true goal of the game is to destroy every single package

I liked the art and the physics driven nature of the game. Pretty difficult to actually get all of the items safely. Tv basically was impossible it felt like to keep on the truck. I got the car stuck on a rock a few times and sometimes it was trying to push rocks instead of go over them.

Amazing art, I like the sound too, gameplay it's a bit tough, unbalanced, can't get more than 300 dollars. It just needed some tweaks to the physics but thats hard with limited time(my game is guilty of this too) Follows theme nicely though.

Really difficult but very fun! I did notice that if you continue going left at the start instead of right you fall of the map and have to refresh to start over.

TIL that hotdog is made of glass, mattress is twice as expensive as tv, and all fredex' customers are naked men hitchhikers. 10/10 would aw dang again.

Good lord, this is the hardest game I've played so far. Couldn't make more than $300. Fun and funny take on the physics genre, and well-executed! I just need an easy mode with a monster truck or something.

@bloodyaugust LOL. Yeah... it definitely needs some tuning. It should be hard, but right now, it is practically impossible. That $%$%&$ing tv and mattress.

I had a build where you could deliver everything at one point, but yeah, right now, it feels like $300 is a pretty high score. :face_palm:  I must have busted something in that last mad dash final hour of the jam.

I find it hilarious that Fred can't even manage to deliver a few packages only 20 feet down the road, but admittedly doesn't make for a very fun game.

I do wish I could fix the position of that stupid tv and upload a new build, but not sure that is very jam-like?

hilariously difficult. I managed to get to the third guy, but I think his TV fell off at the beginning, so all I had left was a mattress. The art style fits the mechanics perfectly, as do the sounds.

Love the visuals!!Also the truck moves very nice tho those little rocks always screw me over ;o And the TV just never wants to stay there hahah but overall except the ultra difficulty it was very nice!

Good solution of the delivery theme! However, it could be better if the game was a bit easier. As in some other people here I also can't get over first or second rock. More classic controls for such game could make it better, like in old motorcycle games. Art looks nice but I can't understand the logic behind the man standing there in need of deliveries. Maybe a lil background story could make it clearer.

So if we take away how hard the game is, it looks complete and cute in it's own way!

As others have said the physics could be balanced a bit, right now even without moving one of the items will fall out of the trunk. I think having at least a larger trunk would make the game less frustrating. Other than that it was still fun trying to deliver as many packages as I could! My strategy was to use a controller and just slightly move the stick right. It only worked until I got stuck on a rock and the mattress fell out haha

This was a very short, but very fun little game! As others have said, the bouncyness may have a bit been slightly too strong, but honestly that is also kind of what gives the game its charm. I liked how the game says 'well done', even though I only managed to deliver 2 packages. I think this communicates the message that it is basically impossible to deliver more than 2 really well XD The art was also beautiful and the audio very fitting. Amazingly well done! I enjoyed it a lot :D

This game has good potential, unfortunately I hit a total roadblock with the rocks, i was somehow pushing them rather than climbing over, even the small ones, at higher speeds. Interestingly, the first round I played, this wasn't an issue until i got near the last delivery spot.

The graphics are pretty good!

Quite funny. By *lightly* driving over the first rock I did manage to not absolutely destroy all the packages... but I'd say it's probably a bit too tricky.

The SFX were funny. I think the game is a bit short in gameplay but funny to imagine where you could take this :)

This is funny! I loved bouncing over the rocks watching my parcels go flying :joy:

I think its very well done in the time we had. I think with ENOUGH practice you could maybe actually deliver ALL of the boxes o_O
takes ages tho!

nice job! :D

I agree with a lot of people's sentiments that you lose a lot of packages right off the bat. It was funny, though, and a nice challenge.

Great visuals and sound design! The game is incredibly short and lacks much opportunity for players to influence how well they do though since you lose everything bouncing around so much. I wish the bounce was toned down slightly, and that there was some sort of overall progress like multiple days of deliveries with some monetary goal like paying off a debt or something to work for. As is, I got 3 out of 4 items delivered and find that it would be impossible to do all of them.

This is really cool, and can see where we both got the inspiration from for our logos and punny game theme!
The fullscreen button didn't seem to work as expected to me. The title screen is super appropriate for the pixel style of the game. Actually about the art style, it looks sprite-based but also the boxes move and fall in 3d?? Wow!

There is so much to unpack here (pun intended hehe). The controls and driving the truck feel super responsive and satisyfing, also the voice clips are funny too! Did you also record them yourself like I did? Hehe
The smashing glass sound has got to be my favourite sound effect and honestly, I'd rather let that parcel smash from than deliver it because it's so good!

Everything visually about the game looks super polished and professional. The background (and foreground) kinda look watercoloured too? The notepad/newspaper GUI at the top looks cool, it fits in with the make-shift theme of the game's design. The timer didn't seem to work and I don't think I could do much more than just the 1 level/4 parcels? I could be missing something though, I am dumb when it comes to video games! I'll play it a whole bunch more!

Overall, this is a solid entry, and it's super on theme for the jam too! The game doesn't need music for the gameplay but it wouldn't hurt. The sound effects (engine and parcels too) are really tactile and suit everything the game has to offer so well! Honestly, this is one of the top-ranked games in the jam for me!

Cool game! Looks and feels really nice. The audio is great; some music would've been cool. It did seem pretty much impossible to me to get every package delivered tho, as the TV always seemed to fall out as soon as you moved at all, sometimes before. I guess maybe the trick is to somehow keep driving and/or reversing to balance it but I never managed to pull it off 😅 Some humour in there with the recipients and their voices. Nice graphics and particles. Nice job C:
