Waggle Danger by Haustgeirr

[raw]
made by Haustgeirr for Ludum Dare 53 (COMPO)

This is a game about a bee. A lovely friendly bee, trying to collect nectar. When suddenly an awful crow appears! It's a Rhythm game, where you need to move in time with the beat. Getting this wrong will cause the crow to attack more frequently.

The crow destroys plants - so be careful!

Thanks for playing!

Love the pixel art and the crow sound is very fitting! Nice color palette too

nice game! The only issue is that I felt the beat was sometimes off, but maybe that's a html build issue

I'm not entirely sure if this is the case, but i think the beat is not entirely synchronized to the music, so it gets a bit off-sync sometimes. Interesting idea though

Very fun idea but it's mega annoying to play as the music just doesn't keep in sync at all. So basically missing the most important aspect of a rhythm game.

Really can't do any better as I keep dropping the combos left and right...

I tried everything. Pausing to resync and full refresh starts too but to no avail, can't do more than a single full trip without it getting way off sync.

It looks nice. Very pleasing color palette and nice pixel art. Music and sounds work too but a more beat emphasising music could work better.

The scoring could be more interesting too. If it was in sync, it wouldn't be too hard to get the perfect 64*24 (at least that's how I figured it works).

Nothing much else to say here. I like the idea and the look/sound but the off syncing is really pissing in my cereal. But good job! 👍

Welcome back! :)

I was also expecting to music to keep the beat, which was not my experience. Instead I used the blinking icon to stay in rhythm, which was pretty hard. I wasn't quite sure what the little bee indicator inside it was supposed to mean, but I was able to scrape by anyway. I like the element of danger in a rhythm game!

Solid entry. I liked the loop a lot and the arts was great. Like others have said the choice for followinging the rhythm was especially punishing. It was not intuitive to know when to aim and a more straightforward music scafolding would have vastly improved the feeling of this game. It ended up feeling like I was being tricked by the audio rather than encouraged. It was the only negative though. Good work

I managed to clear it. The very cute art style and the exhilarating game system when moving smoothly were very attractive :)

I like the art style and the concept. I couldn't figure out the music timing unfortunately. Maybe a more prominent drum or bass line could help the player zone in on the right timing.

Nice and fun, and even addictive. I really love your pixel art style, well done! If you'll continue to work on it, it can become a good big game!

Cool game! I love the cute little bee going around, and the crow was very intimidating. It was sometimes hard to tell when the beat was in the song, so having some sort of visual indicator would be nice as well.
