Unspecified Postage Service by EmeraldAlkemist

[raw]
made by EmeraldAlkemist for Ludum Dare 53 (COMPO)

The Unspecified Postage Service is experimenting with a new way to ship packages, by having them run themselves to the recipients' houses. As a package, can you make your way to the recipient's house without getting damaged by the environment?

This game is intended to be very difficult.

Update 1: Added arrow sprite that was accidentally deleted

It's definitely tough!

can't figure how to pass level 3, but the control and music is nice though.

I'm stuck in the "wall jump" level.
The physic is pretty weird, but fun ^^

+ Interesting idea with the movement and taking damage, I like it being resembled in the sprite.
+ I liked the interaction with the clouds.
+ Some parts of the maps felt wonky, as in try until it works rather the figure out how to do it properly.
+ I think the restart button didn't reset the damage, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

This was sometimes hard, sometimes easy. I found it easier to just retry than try to recover a bad run. It has a good variety of puzzles.

Neat idea, and I like the the "showing damage on the sprite" mechanic. That said, it wasn't obvious to me what would cause damage to the package, and what was an acceptable amount of "falling". I wish it was a bit more clear when thing would be damage, and I wish that the amount of damage was reset to where it previously was when I restart a level.

Cool concept! I wasn't able to figure out (level 5?) with the vertical column of springs. It's really nice having the instant restart key. This is the first one I've played where you're actually playing as the delivery itself :) Great work!

The interactive clouds are awesome! I love them it was a nice surprise. The game is actually pretty fun and engaging. I like difficult-to-control games but this one was actually pretty straightforward and intuitive. I beat it but I didn't actually realize that the box took damage until I beat it! I like how the box displays its damage by actually changing its sprite. The springs are very satisfying to hit. I had fun!

@gametrodon These are both great pieces of feedback that I'll implement when the rating period is over.

Fiddly at times, but very fun. The level with the vertical tunnel of spring boards was the only one I got stuck on for a minute.

I call it a success :grinning: I don't know what the client is whining about.

Music was simple but actually perfect. It added rhythm to the whole experience and help get into the flow of things. Graphics is simple but does the job - damage shown on the package effect is a very nice touch.

The whole game is fun to play. Controls feel good. Really nice job!

it's a very fun game, it doesn't make much sense that there is a very easy level after a more complicated one (I understand that you wanted to tell us something but it doesn't look good that abrupt change of difficulty to easier)

Is there an alternative ending if I deliver the package with little damage?

@josemwarrior I'll try to rearrange the levels to make the harder ones come later in the game.

Quite satisfying package destruction mechanics. Good little game.

You did really good, I think the only thing holding you back here is your art, which means diddly-squat if the game's fun. If you wanted to go all in, i would work on giving your art a big more depth. Clouds look good though.

YESSSSSS HAEHHEAHASD oh my gosd as soon as I pressed D I couldn't stop laughing. What a creative idea! Reading the instructions I thought this was just gonna be a normal platformer but nope. Rolling box. It getting more and more destroyed was also super funny. The music was a bit of a mess but it honestly fits the game surprisingly well.

@wolfier How should I improve the art?

I believe you can adjust levels a little more both to be just a little bit forgiving and guiding/limiting the player to explore more of your mechanics other than that i believe this is a pretty solid entry

I liked your idea of showing damages on the box !
The level 3 is quite hard ^^'

Fun and silly idea, and I really like the damage accumulating over the entire game. It was pretty unclear for a while that I had to restart to get a higher jump on some of the springs but I figured it out. Well executed on a simple idea, and I don't have any complaints about not knowing what's off screen because of all the big helpful arrows.

Nice, love the box damage and bouncing around felt nice. I would have liked the movement to be slower, it felt a little random when trying to hit something just right and I would just brute force my way past instead of trying to be precise. I would totally play more levels if they were there.

Here for the rescue! :D Pretty fun game. The music was nice but a bit repetitive after like 10 repeats. xD I liked the graphics and pushing the clouds apart. Good job!
