Delivery Dude by MPK90

Gameplay
Deliver Pizza!
Drive to the big orange markers and deliver the pizza there! Be careful, you only have a limited amount of pizza and fuel. You can refill both, but it will cost you money (Gas Station, Pizza Restaurant).
Unfortunately no music available, you have to bring your own :(

Controls
WASD: Driving
Space: Throw Pizza: (Hold to throw with more power)
R: Reset Car Position (It will cost you money)
Arrow Left and Arrow Right: Camera
Post LD Version 1.1
I am not a big fan of post jam versions during the post jam "playing" phase. Because it was very hard due to the physics and unfair in some places, I made a post version.
- The pizza car is much harder to flip over.
- Resetting the car and getting new pizzas no longer costs money
- But refueling became a bit more expensive
- When the gas is empty, you have lost
- It is now easier to understand the gas station or the pizzeria
Software
- Godot (Game Engine)
- Blender (3D-Modelling)
- Gimp ( Image Processing )
Closing Words
This was my 2nd participation in the Ludum Dare. Like the first time I made a 3D game. Both times as a solo developer. In total I have only made two 3D games so far.
My ambitions for this Ludum Dare were very high, so I had to cut some things (no music and no sound 😰). With only 2 minutes of time left, I was able to finish the Ludum Dare successfully.
Now I can finally test all the games ;)

I liked where you were going with this game. The map design was cool and it was fairly intuitive what I needed to do. The physics however need work. I typically tend to avoid using built in engine physics as much as possible as I often find when I use built in physics I am fighting to remove behaviors rather than adding behaviors. Granted this is a driving game which is arguably one of the best types of games to use built in physics.
As for how I would suggest improving this game. If you found a way to lower the center of weight of the car to under the car it would make it significantly less likely the car would flip and might help it correct itself if it does manage to flip.
It's a pity about the Linux build. I'll try to set up a Linux and find out the problem, but not until the evening.
Sometimes the engine export template works perfectly, sometimes not :(
With the LD 50 the Mac version didn't work at that time, so I didn't offer any more... (testing Mac without Apple device is not really possible)
The main thing I think it could use is some sort of menu/intro so I know what I'm doing. It was a little confusing where the pizzas were supposed to go and what the numbers in the top left really meant. But from one solo-dev to another it's very impressive and amazing to do a 3D game in such a time crunch. Great job!
Nice job! :D
and thanks for the Linux port. Made it much easier to test :D
Too bad your experience wasn't so good. I unfortunately ran out of time massively towards the end. Importing the 3D models only happened in the last 2h before the deadline.
Could then only just put the rest together.
At the gas station, white semicircles should be visible at the gas pump. About every second some fuel should be refilled, if money is available.
Where you spawn is also the pizza restaurant. You need money for that as well.
@dongle
Next Ludum Dare I will definitely make a smaller game, where I will also have time for polishing. Maybe then in 2D.
Sounds almost like you played it with VR glasses. I'm going to look into the camera again.
If you expand on the idea I would really like to see how it turns out! Great job, you're really skilled for not much experience in 3d for sure.
I have published a Post Version:
- The pizza car is much harder to flip over.
- Resetting the car and getting new pizzas no longer costs money

- When the gas is empty, you have lost

I have published a Post Version:
- Now you can lose :)
Thank you for your feedback!
Yes, I have developed the game alone.
